Senior Director, Content
USA TODAY Sports Media Group is seeking a Senior Director to oversee content strategy across its network specialty sports brands, including The Big Lead, HoopsHype, MMA Junkie, Big Lead Sports affiliates, etc. Specific emphasis will be placed on growing the sports audience, leveraging sports personnel for the greatest impact and building an effective partnership to grow revenue. This director also coordinates with USA TODAY national and local sports divisions. This position requires a visionary with a proven background conceiving, developing, implementing and managing high-impact content strategies. This position reports to the Head of Content Ventures for the USA TODAY NETWORK.
Responsibilities:
• Help define the USA TODAY Sports Media Group content strategy to generate traffic and build audience engagement/loyalty
• Develop content initiatives that extend our brand and make us a leader on emerging platforms
• Build teams throughout our network that can execute a dynamic content strategy
• Work closely with our analytics team to discover ways to differentiate our brand and build audience
• Partner with sales and business leadership on ways to increase revenue
• Develop new concepts that extend our brand and increase revenue
• Spot new content and delivery trends ahead of the competitive landscape and formulate ways to take advantage of those opportunities
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 10-15 years’ relative work experience with 5+ years overseeing and developing content with proven results
• 8 or more years of management at the senior management level or higher
• Passionate leader who isn’t afraid of constant change, excels at creating new avenues of audience and knows how to deliver substantial results
• Expertise and success using metrics and implementing them to deliver sustained audience growth
• Demonstrated knowledge of the digital media space from a competitive standpoint
• Understanding of new platforms and ability to inspire teams to execute
• Great communicator who can also work closely with sales, marketing and digital to execute on big campaigns
