Job Description
The Dedicated Senior Vice President, Performance Media roll is dedicated to one Power of One client team and has ultimate accountability for the effectiveness of the entire client’s digital media program. As a performance media expert, this person will have expertise in an array of addressable paid advertising strategies that utilizes programmatic buying and optimization tools to positively affect our client’s ROI including search, display, social, mobile, local, and video. This person should also understand the interplay and alignment between traditional and digital media and have the ability to manage and scale an integrated team of performance practitioners and media planners.
With his/her unique understanding of the broader traditional and digital media space, the SVP will be expected to closely collaborate with our Analytics, Planning, Performance Content and Client Leadership teams to drive seamless integration of planning and execution of a holistic performance plan for the dedicated retail account.
The Senior Vice President will be a member of the senior leadership group for this focused retail client and will work alongside leaders overseeing total marketing strategy, client leadership, analytics, media technology, and offline executions. This role will report directly into the EVP, Performance Services for Performics US and will have display, social, search, and affiliate teams accountable to it.
The ideal candidate for this position is a digital native with both tactical activation and strategic leadership experience. By way of example, this candidate would be able to speak directly with C-level clients about the overall performance media strategy, specific channel – like search – strategy, and current performance trends AND address junior client teams tactical questions at a surface level, while relying on their agency teams to confirm and provide supporting detail/color as needed. The candidate will also be well versed in the latest opportunities available from partners across all channels and be able to quickly assess validity for the retail client. This candidate will represent the Performics way in all aspects of their work and promote an enthusiastically accountable team culture.
Role Objectives:
Digital Account Leadership
• Ultimate responsibility for the execution and communication of the client campaigns with operational excellence and relentless pursuit of performance every day across search (including shopping ads), social, display, and affiliate
• Work collaboratively with other account team leaders to improve the overall quality and success of the program across all channels and tactics
• Communicates efforts, wins and any other information regularly to clients and executive agency leaders
• Collaborate with other agency leaders to improve the overall quality and success of the agency
• Facilitate and support integration across all digital teams to ensure planning and operational alignment
• Work directly with analytics & technology teams to ensure all recommendations and investment decisions are grounded in the latest measurement practices in place on the account.
• Support annual, quarterly, weekly, and campaign planning and strategy processes to ensure digital is properly represented and latest client feedback is incorporated in plans
• Monitors channel performance daily looking for opportunities to direct teams toward better investment outcomes
• Fluidly manages the digital budget across all digital channels with the support of the analytics teams
• Can effectively manage resources in collaboration with senior department leads overseeing digital practices like display to ensure methods conform to agency/holding company standards
Team Leadership & Development
• Develop team talent, source and fill any open headcount, and help with annual talent appraisals
• Drive a culture based on teamwork, collaboration with accountability and intellectual curiosity
• Manage and coach VP and Director level team members, working to drive client business objectives
• Deploy and leverage the latest services and media buying models build centrally within the Performance Media department and work with the agency media team to help improve products, services, and processes.
Industry and Partner Relationship Management
• Lead the relationship with the industry partners within the account and manage a collaborative roadmap to drive partner and agency agendas forward for the client
• Monitor industry and vertical trends and create thought leadership pieces for senior clients
• Accompany clients to industry events and conferences and work to apply insights to the program
Qualifications
• 10+ years of digital experience, including time spent in a digital role at an agency
• 6+ years of demonstrated success in managing and leading people
• 4+ years of retail industry experience managing multi-channel digital programs
• Bachelor’s degree, concentration economics, finance, or engineering preferred. MBA a plus!
• Strong understanding of the digital advertising landscape, including search, social, display (direct and programmatic), DSPs, DMPs, data partners, and commerce marketplaces
• Digital activation experience required and prior investment management experience preferred
• Successfully worked in in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Proven success in delivering clear, strategic presentations to senior leadership/executives
• Able to work independently and balance multiple tasks
• Comfortable working in matrix organizational structure with accountability to more than one manager and needing to get things done though influence and direct ownership.
• Ability to travel to client once per week minimum (2 hours from Chicago by car).
