Description
Obra Architects seeks a creative, energetic business/office manager for our small but growing architecture firm in downtown Manhattan with work in DC, New Jersey, Korea, Italy, and Argentina. The position involves marketing, public relations, and administrative work. We seek an individual who is enthusiastic and interested in art, architecture and design, and who has familiarity with basic administrative and graphic design software. Most importantly, we seek someone with self-initiative who is willing to learn and grow into a position of responsibility at the firm.
Job responsibilities will include:
General Office Manager: general administrative / assistant duties including management of all front office activities, answering phones, filing, ordering supplies, assisting all staff as necessary, ensuring office is kept organized and clean, light bookkeeping, invoice management, travel scheduling and office calendar management, maintaining and updating materials and samples library.
Marketing Manager: organize press kits and portfolios, promote interest in the firm’s services through brochures, mailings, assist in marketing production, website updates, assisting with all public outreach and special events.
This position is an ideal opportunity for a self-starter interested in developing both business and creative skills, and is a position with great growth potential for someone who wants to be involved in a small firm where s/he can have a large impact. We seek an energetic, confident organizer who is resourceful, able to work independently, and can handle a multitude of tasks both large and small. This is a 3-month train-to-hire position. Training period and salary commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
• experience in office management and administrative work
• strong writing and communication skills
• strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• general knowledge of art, architecture and design
• familiarity with basic administrative software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite) software
• familiarity with QuickBooks Pro and standard bookkeeping concepts, practices and procedures
• fluency in English a requirement, fluency in Chinese, Korean, Spanish, or German a plus
• ability to multi-task, problem solve and work independently with attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• undergraduate degree required
• some familiarity with the architectural design field and operations of an architect’s office environment is required
