POSITION OVERVIEW
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum seeks a Part-Time Membership Assistant with experience in customer service and data entry, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to join the Museum’s Membership team. The Part-Time Membership Assistant’s primary responsibility is to sell Museum Memberships on the Memorial Plaza to visitors and patrons near the ticket queues, disseminate information about the Membership program and answer general questions about the Memorial and Museum, providing an overall positive experience for members, prospective members and museum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Face-to-face interaction with members and prospective members on the Memorial with a primary focus on selling memberships on the Memorial Plaza
• Describe the benefits of the Museum’s Membership program to visitors (such as unlimited admission to the Museum for a year, complimentary audio guides, special discounts, tax-deductible…etc.) while maintaining a customer focused attitude
• Explain the important role Members play in the sustaining and maintaining the Memorial and Museum today and for future generations.
• Assist members with guest and admission tickets and fulfill certain membership materials for memberships sold on the Plaza
• Provide assistance for other sectors of development including working events on and off site including, but not limited to, the Benefit Dinner, 5K, Anniversary Ceremony, Public Programs
• Promote Membership and/or the Museum at off-site events including the Tribeca Film Festival and other city-wide events
• Meet and guide VIP tour guests from the Plaza into the Museum
• Assist the membership department with general clerical and customer service duties as assigned
• Track and report prospect/member feedback to supervisor
• Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENT
• Associate’s Degree preferred
• Minimum of one year experience in customer service, hospitality or retail
• Point-of-sale experience, including handling credit cards and maintaining security of confidential information
• Must have experience with databases and general computer skills including iPad IOS and MS Office. Proficiency with POS system and Raisers Edge is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience working in a membership environment is a plus
• Professional appearance required. Excellent attention to detail is necessary, with strong oral, written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task, think proactively, creatively and independently; capable of listening to customers, identifying issues/problems and offering solutions
• Reliable team player with a positive attitude and outgoing personality who is capable of successfully adapting to new challenges is strongly preferred
• A uniform will be provided and is required to be worn during working hours
• Ability to take direction from multiple supervisors
• Knowledge of a second language is helpful
• Working outdoors year-round including nights/weekends/holidays are required
