Job Responsibilities:
Wynn Las Vegas understands the incredible value of data management by integrating data from existing vendor-delivered systems with internally-architected advanced solutions. The Database Architecture Lead is a key member of the Wynn Las Vegas IT Development Team and is critical to implementing database architecture improvements for Wynn Las Vegas. This position reports to the Software Architecture Lead and plays a lead role in the areas of software development, enterprise scalability, and systems integration for Wynn Las Vegas.
• Manages a team of Database Developers responsible for delivering enterprise class database architectures and complex database objects used with n-tier enterprise application software.
• Translates business requirements, functional designs & information architectural specification in the areas of Marketing, Hotel, Gaming, Retail and Food & Beverage systems into technical designs for implementation of application architecture and interface development initiatives.
• Assists and mentors team members as they implement and code database objects from technical design specifications.
• Assists and mentors team members as they provide Tier 4 support for production issues and outages.
• Partners with the Software Architecture Lead to implement best of breed Enterprise Architecture designs that support key business objectives.
• Will lead team development implementation efforts that bring together members from multiple systems, teams, and lines of business.
• Advocates and implements standards, best practices, product development processes, technical design practices, and quality assurance.
• Analyzes functional and business logic requirements/problems and objectively; applies sound judgment in assessing possible solutions.
• Assists in coding efforts to develop databases, optimizations, database enhancements and integrations that support business strategy & requirements with emphasis on on-time business delivery, performance, availability, scalability, security, maintainability, reliability, ease • Assists in creation and review of Development Project plans to determine project requirements and schedule Development Team project deliverables, milestones and required tasks.
• Assigns duties to Database Developer team members including coding assignments, tasks and responsibilities
• Direct and coordinate activities of Database Developer team members to ensure project progresses on schedule
• Review status reports prepared by project personnel, and modify schedules or plans as required
• Establish standards and procedures for developer team reporting and documentation efforts
• Mentor team members providing technical advice and assisting to resolve technical implementation issues
• Coordinate and respond to requests for changes from original specifications
• Develop unit test plans
• Develop a peer code review process and conduct code reviews at various stages in the development process.
• Ensure team process to enter and track implementation information including work items, tasks and issue management in Team Foundation Server.
• Develop and maintain build servers & team build processes
• Author and manage release notes for each build for release to Quality Management
Job Requirements:
• Solid understanding of n-tier enterprise application and system integrations development utilizing RDMS.
• Mastery of architecting complex enterprise class solutions using database objects such as tables, views and stored procedures MS SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008.
• Knowledge of/experience with middleware/integration platforms such as TIBCO and SOA preferred.
• Solid understanding of the software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version management, contemporary testing methodologies and deployment methodologies.
• Strong analysis, design and implementation experience with technologies.
• Strong Experience with Data Modeling, Warehousing, Relational Database
• Experience with other BI Tools with Business Objects, ECM, Archival experience a plus.
• Strong experience with Data Mapping, Data Modeling, Data Mining, and Data Warehousing/Mart.
• Two to four years of progressive broad-based information Data Warehouse development experience; highly desirable four or more years working with Teradata, Informatica, Oracle and MS SQL.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver projects using leading-edge technology.
• Solid project management skills with ability to multitask and manage multiple small to large projects in a cross-functional environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of developers and to apply skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems.
• Ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels.
• Ability to operate under a dual reporting relationship (IT, customers.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline with an information technology focus or equivalent experience.
• Must have 5-7 years experience in a senior role in MS SQL Database Development involving a formal development and test release process for n-tier client/server.
• Must have 1-2 years in a Lead Database Developer or Architect role.
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture and/or Event Driven Architecture.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Strong management and development skills.
• Technical management experience in a dynamic high-technology environment — a key success factor.
• A valid Nevada Gaming License is required and must be obtained before entering this position.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
