We’re looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team in San Francisco. Our offices in San Francisco, Tokyo, and Chișinău develop the product, design, engineering, marketing and content for Crunchyroll and VRV -- we are media and technology experts, and we lead with our digital-first DNA to create experiences for our passionate communities.
The Financial Analyst - Content FP&A is responsible for all tasks related to content acquisition and royalty reporting in support of FP&A functions. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role working in collaboration with, but not limited to, Legal, Publishing, Acquisitions, Data Engineering, and Senior Management as a representative of FP&A. The successful candidate will leverage technical skills, business acumen, and creativity to inform strategic business decisions for both Crunchyroll and VRV.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare complex models to project content performance to support decision-making regarding content acquisition and original development
• Review and analyze royalty related contracts and track all transactions related to minimum guarantee (MG) commitments
• Account for content expenses, liabilities and related commitments
• Work closely with and support Japan personnel to manage co-production anime investments
• Partner with the data engineering team to drive the development of our content management system
• Proactively work with the data engineering team to analyze viewership data using SQL
• Coordinate quarterly and annual royalty review with Senior Management
• Prepare and send out quarterly royalty statements and payments to publishers
• Assist with the creation of key presentations for Leadership and Board of Directors
• Assist the Finance team with other ad-hoc projects as needed
Requirements:
• Proven experience in identifying opportunities for business improvement and objectively evaluating those initiatives
• Prior experience in Entertainment / Anime / Japanese culture and knowledge of royalty systems is a plus
• 1-4 years experience in an analytical / quantitative role
• Experience building and maintaining complex financial models and exceptional Excel skills
• Familiarity with relational databases and querying via SQL
• Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Bachelor's degree with a major or emphasis in Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative field
