This position reports to the Assistant Controller and manages all payroll functions and initiatives both domestic and international for Blackboard, Inc.
Specifically s/he will be responsible for:
• Overseeing the preparation and processing of payroll for Blackboard’s 3,000+ domestic and international employees; reviewing and ensuring accuracy.
• Setting the tone and ensuring a high level of customer service is provided to both internal and external customers.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for company-wide payroll processing and accounting.
• Managing payroll vendor relationships domestically and internationally.
• Managing payroll staff; coaching, mentoring and providing leadership development to team members.
• Developing, updating and monitoring all internal controls to accurately report financial information for the payroll department.
• Ensuring compliance with U.S. and global regulatory requirements.
• Year-end process, year-end filing and issuance of year-end forms to employees and authorities.
• Reviewing and maintaining timely tax filing for all of companies and locations.
• Partnering with HR, accounting, tax, legal and various other functional areas, to provide data and reports as needed and to ensure responsive resolution of employee payroll issues/inquiries.
• Leading payroll integration efforts and supporting the on boarding of additional employees joining the company through acquisitions.
• Leading payroll activities for expansion into new international locations.
• Supporting various initiatives related to payroll including mergers and acquisitions, international expansion, process improvements, financial and regulatory audits, etc.
Professional Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; CPP preferred
• At least 7-10 years of progressive experience managing payroll initiatives for a mid-size, global company.
• Experience working on international payroll including Latin America, Canada, UK, Europe, China, Australia and other international locations
• Proven experience with Ultipro, Oracle Fusion Time and Labor, and BI reporting required.
• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll tax withholding.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation skills and relationship management.
• Advance computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc)
