Headquartered in Washington DC, Blackboard Inc. has a global consulting organization, effective marketing is a key aspect of the overall global divisions strategy for success, and within that it has been identified that effective solutions and consulting marketing is a keystone capability to support successful market development, sales execution, customer retention and expansion. As such, Blackboard is seeking a highly proficient and experienced senior services marketing professional to rapidly enact this new role, and enable high-competency marketing for the global business division.
The Sr Manager, International Consulting Marketing reports to the Vice President, Consulting Operations. The role will have Global coverage and can be based in London, Amsterdam, Bogota or preferably at our corporate headquarters in Washington, DC.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Consulting Marketing team is focused on driving awareness for both our internal stakeholders and our clients, demand generation and client retention for Blackboard in its global markets. As part of this team, this individual will:
• Develop global services and solutions marketing strategy, positioning and messaging for our Global Services portfolio (including new services launches or campaigns)
• Define and understand the market through sales insight, market research and competitive analysis; support the development of new services solutions by working with solution and product management teams on market and customer requirements
• Lead or assist in the creation of enablement content for our global sales team (e.g. playbooks, battlecards, scripts, presentations, training modules, demos)
• Lead internal Blackboard and external enablement and roll-out activities
• Represent Blackboard Consulting at various strategy meetings and internal company initiatives
• Own services and product launches including market readiness
• Lead cross-functional team; indirectly manages and influences key stakeholders across field marketing, solution engineering, product management, sales, corporate marketing, and industry management to support deployment of new releases
• Create marketing content for multimedia platforms including digital marketing, print materials, videos, email campaigns, advertising, PR and social media
• Designs and develops value proposition, messaging and marketing strategy for new to market solutions
• Bring the Global Services story to life for internal and external audiences through presentations and other communications vehicles
• Represent Blackboard at small and large industry speaking engagements while assisting with event logistics and planning, including determination of priority services/solutions to be promoted
• Define and track marketing success metrics.
• Develops and manages marketing operating budgets.
The Sr Manager, Consulting Marketing will work closely with the platform sales and sales engineering teams, global product management and product marketing teas in other go-to-market divisions, and the other members of the International Marketing communications and field marketing team to align, and execute on consulting’s marketing programs to ensure their successful implementation.
Skills and Experience:
The candidate should have a solid foundation of product marketing, the ability to guide and work with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, and the ability to effectively communicate at a senior level both internally and externally.
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, or related field is required.
• MBA or other advanced degree is desirable.
• Proven experience in Product Marketing, experience in Consulting/Professional Services is going to be a big advantage
• The candidate will be a technology marketing professional, principally in licensed software, managed hosting and software-as-a-service solutions with a thorough appreciation of each.
• The candidate will have enjoyed at least 6 years of marketing experience working in sophisticated global enterprise technology markets, preferably with BTB solutions. Their career will demonstrate a track record of growth, with strong exposure to international markets and extensive interaction with teams based outside the US. Experience of education markets is desirable, but not a prerequisite.
• Strong planning and rigorous project management skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize, be detail-oriented.
• Native-equivalent fluency in speaking and writing English required. Excellent writing and presentation skills.
• Strong presentation skills to co-present to key prospects Blackboard Leadership and Sales Agents.
• Well organized, with proven ability to work remotely and manage own workload with minimal supervision.
• Ability to respond quickly to changing demands and market conditions.
• Strong relationship development and negotiating skills; able to earn respect and trust among internal and external business partners and team members.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Results driven.
• The role may require some international/domestic travel and the ability to work in a high tempo and demanding international culture.
