Total Traffic - Director of Ops - Seattle Hub
Job Summary:
Leads all aspects of traffic reporting operations center in a management role. Responsible for managing all staff, content, on air and online products, along with providing excellent customer service to client stations.
Responsibilities
• Identifies, recruits, trains and coaches on-air traffic reporters and producers. Frequently conducts aircheck sessions with on-air staff and quality control reviews of production data.
• Scheduling of all on-air and production staff, located in Seattle and Portland offices. Available to respond to staff and affiliate needs after-hours, on weekends and holidays.
• Partners with Regional Vice President of Operations and SVP of Affiliate Relations in support of affiliate goals.
• Establishes and maintains professional relationships with staff and affiliate partners.
• Employee goal setting and review.
• Manages department within budget on a yearly, quarterly and monthly basis.
• Payroll submissions by company deadlines.
• Order office and engineering supplies, as needed.
• Partners with local and corporate engineering team, along with area DOT's.
• Ensures staff has taken/passed/maintained all company programs, plans, and training.
• Executes terms of the SAG-AFTRA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Handles all payables according to company policy and in a prompt fashion.
Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge of FCC broadcast rules and regulations.
• On-air experience required.
• Excellent team leadership and delegation skills, including motivation of staff; can set goals & expectations, provide honest feedback and manage performance.
• Working knowledge of radio station automation systems a plus
• Working knowledge of radio studio equipment, including audio editing software like Adobe Audition
• Deep knowledge of Seattle area, Portland area and Spokane area geography, roads, traffic patterns and mass transit options.
• Strong computer skills, including Excel.
• Relationship with area DOT's a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• High degree of planning and organizing skills; can meet specific deadlines
• Flexible, creative, and innovative in using technology
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
• Superior oral and written communication skills
• Ability to influence others and ensure a client focus
Work Experience
• Prior experience directing and managing a team
• Experience working at a radio station that includes interacting with a Program and/or News Director
• Prior experience as a broadcaster, either in traffic, news or sports.
• Prior experience as an Operations Manager, Assistant Operations Manager, Program Director or Assistant Program Director preferred
Education
• 4-year college degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
