As the Director, Product Strategy, you will have a multi-disciplinary leadership role which requires intellectual curiosity, a strong bias to action and a passion for solving enterprise problems with data & technology.
In this hands-on role you will be responsible for determining the product strategy for Gannett’s consumer revenue team, develop clear business cases for new product investments, identify revenue optimization opportunities, and provide thought leadership on product and market trends. Accountable to the Sr. Director Consumer Revenue, you will collaborate with various stakeholders and lead largely through influence and collaboration while leading a small team.
You are analytical and strategic in the way you solve problems, and a whiz with Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote,and other analytical and presentation tools. You can easily jump between day-to-day tactics and long-term vision building. You have a good business sense and understand how products can affect, influence and improve the business.
Responsibilities:
• Develop the product strategy including vision, goals, and initiatives to support the team’s roadmap
• In working with the stakeholders, identify key leverage points to achieve team objectives. Work with Technology, Marketing, Sales, and Data teams to capture input, refine the POV, develop a clear business case for investment, and drive agreement/action.
• Evaluate potential strategic partnerships that enhance the value of our content and strengthen our commercial propositions or present material EBITDA opportunity.
• Facilitate entry and exit decisions across alpha, beta and general availability releases.
• Drive conversion and customer experience goals through personalization, segmentation, and CTA/funnel optimization. Define pricing in consultation with Finance and Marketing teams.
• Serve as thought leader and product subject matter expert providing internal stakeholders with the advice, documentation, tools and training to increase consumer engagement and satisfaction.
• Demonstrate excellent customer and market intelligence and have expert knowledge of the partner and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and risks.
• Perform retrospectives of major product releases, ensuring that business case benefits have been delivered and lessons captured.
Skills & Experience:
• 10+ years of relevant work experience in product strategy, product management, or product development.
• Prior experience in a strategy role at a Financial Services, major management consulting or major technology professional services firm.
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields, or equivalent practical experience, MBA preferred.
• Experience in developing business cases leveraging qualitative and quantitative metrics and incorporating multiple viewpoints.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills for both executive level and end user, developer audiences.
• Deep experience with agile software development methodology
• Fluency in human-centered product discovery with a passion for user-centered design
• Firm understanding of relevant web design and development technologies with the ability to translate business requirements to engineering teams.
