As Senior Product Manager for Research Metrics, you will lead Elsevier’s Research Metrics product strategy and execution, collaborating directly with the Product Director. You will be responsible for synthesizing user feedback to drive the creation of new, innovative and relevant metrics, analytical interpretations and visualizations that help users make decisions. Within Elsevier, you will be a liaison between product teams, understanding and communicating their technical requirements to our development team. As a subject matter expert on the appropriate use of research metrics and analytics, you will mentor other product managers and develop this capability within other product teams. With top notch technical skills you will dive deep to uncover problems and strive to help the team resolve them.
Main Activities and Responsibilities
Successful integrations with other platforms, both internal and external to Elsevier.
Drives the definition and execution of product plans from vision, requirements, and initial design through market launch and rollout for integrations with other products. Establishes & helps disseminate clear guidelines and instructions for partners for integrations & data exchange. Representative expert for the rest of the organization how the metrics provided by our team can and should be aggregated and interpreted.
New innovative visualizations that enable new ways to interact with and use research metrics.
Gathers feedback, manages and drives execution of our feature and data visualization roadmaps.
Successful launch and adoption of metrics relevant to customer use cases
Drives the launch of new metrics relevant to our users, including new measurements for societal and clinical impact, as well as their sharing and appropriate use.
Functional and Technical Skills
• Driving formulation of overall research/testing strategy and ensure product decisions are based on data from multiple sources (customer, market, revenue, etc.)
• Driving solutions to problems with delivery team(s) and across organizations and disciplines
• Interacting with customers regularly, and thoroughly understanding and communicating their use cases and business.
• Leveraging analytics and other insights to better understand customer needs.
Qualifications
• At least 10 years of product management experience.
• Technical background required (direct software development, project management or digital product management experience)
• Background in data analytics or information visualization preferred.
• A proven history of ownership and success in leading product lifecycle strategy and planning, including the release of multiple products and features. Experience working in an Agile development environment required. (JIRA experience preferred)
• Effective presentation skills, both oral and written, adjusting delivery to target audience
• Experience with facilitation of group discussion, dialogue and the consensus process
• Proven track record of innovation.
• Ability to work in a matrix organization
• Travel required (10-20%)
• Location: Philadelphia preferred, other locations for discussion
Development of deep customer relationships that drive meaningful dialogue about the future direction of a product.
Education to Qualify:
Bachelors degree in technical subject (Computer Science or Engineering) or 4 years commensurate experience.
Masters degree in any related area is strongly preferred, but not essential.
