Role Summary
The Director, Global Payroll is a high level visibility leadership opportunity to elevate and manage global payroll and related activities for employees globally. Reporting to the SVP. Global Finance Operations, this role will provide strategic direction and expertise to the payroll function as well as leadership of the global payroll delivery team. This will include ensuring proper and adequate controls and processes as well as driving global payroll consolidation and supporting any implementations and continuous improvement of an integrated global payroll system, tools and associated processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of the Company’s payroll in all countries and that payroll services are processed in accordance with established global policies and procedures along with all legislative compliance requirements (including tax and labor laws).
• Develop and implement best practices, key performance indicators and SLA metrics for department.
• Working knowledge of the development and monitoring of internal controls related to payroll.
• Directs and audits payroll procedures to include earnings, garnishments, tax withholding, and absence processing globally and ensure compliance with organizational procedures.
• Collaborates with Tax Function on all payroll tax related matters and General Accounting related to month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process.
• Ensures payroll tax liability account reconciliations are maintained properly
• Partner and collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, Controllership and IT to evaluate reporting, communicate updates and prioritize improvement opportunities and to ensure seamless systems integration, process efficiency, and standardization.
• Oversees workload and processing structure of department to maximize efficiency and prioritize in accordance with operational requirements/deadlines
• Maintains confidentiality of any payroll, private employee information and any proprietary information and ensures payroll information is secure.
• Support HRIS optimization and other initiatives by recommending process improvements and creating opportunities for automation and reduction of manual processes. Act as a key stakeholder in implementation of new modules.
• Identifies and coordinates changes in policy and procedures governed by federal, state and local laws that affect the payroll function.
• Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved with root cause analysis and corrective action for all levels of employees and management.
• Determines and executes solutions to daily processing issues. Recommends system enhancements and assists in the development, testing and implementation of solutions.
• Responsible for ensuring annual payroll tax reconciliation is timely and accurate, compliance with filing returns and issuing W-2 forms.
• Develops documentation and trains team on payroll and, payroll tax practices.
• Works collaboratively with internal and external customers to achieve business results.
• Proactive, motivated, results oriented individual capable of partnering with diverse perspectives and backgrounds to negotiate positive outcomes that impact the work of internal, external and cross-functional partners.
• Execute ad hoc projects as directed by senior management.
Qualifications/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, HR or other business-related field is required.
• Certified Payroll Professionals (CPP) designation preferred
• Minimum of 10 years payroll management experience in a large scale global, multi-site, multi-state environment is required.
• Technical Knowledge – Global tax withholding and reporting regulations, payroll tax accounting
• Ability to think globally, strategically, and objectively
• Working knowledge of HRIS, payroll systems and payroll tax filings is required. Experience with Workday or other HRIS experience preferred.
• Strong leadership skills balanced with a willingness to play a 'hands-on' role with key projects.
• Leading, coaching, developing and inspiring a global team – setting team goals, measuring success and communicating achievements.
• Superior organization and strong project management skills as demonstrated by the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and drive towards deadlines and results.
• Strong process and procedure orientation for continuous process improvements.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated drive for excellence in operational support and customer service
• Change management experience and ability to facilitate change
Physical Demands

• This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
