Cell Reports
is seeking a full-time senior scientific editor to join its editorial team.
Cell Reports is a young open access journal in the Cell Press portfolio and we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic editor to further our goal of publishing thought-provoking and innovative papers across the entire life sciences spectrum.
Your responsibilities:
As a senior member of the editorial team, you would be expected to:
• fulfill a leadership role, including taking responsibility for aspects of journal administration and mentoring of more junior editors
• move the journal forward by recruiting exciting studies; assessing submitted research papers; selecting and collaborating with referees; and writing content for the journal homepage, blog and social media outlets
• travel to scientific conferences and research institutions to directly engage with the scientific community to keep abreast of the most recent research developments
What you should bring:
• Broad scientific interests and a passion for helping scientists publish their work
• Experience in editorial selection of papers to match journal scope and editorial standards, preferably as a full-time professional editor
• A dynamic, results-oriented approach to goals and objectives
• A good understanding of digital communication, publishing trends, and open access publishing
• Creativity, willingness to experiment, and desire to improve
• Strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize, focus, and achieve desired goals
• Great interpersonal skills. Collaboration and networking are core aspects of the job
• A PhD or other relevant doctoral degree
