Spotify has connected millions of people to their favorite songs and created a service for people to discover and enjoy music they love. We’re looking for a smart and experienced Production Accountant to join the Studios Originals team, reporting directly into the Head of Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the accounting needs for a growing video production department. We are hiring for this position in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
• Establish and implement best accounting practices for 20+ fast-paced video productions per month
• Create and maintain complex financial tracking and analysis leveraging digital tools
• Partner with Finance team to report spending and procedures
• Oversee all payments, manage petty cash, and keep accurate financial records
• Audit and reconcile line item expenses against forecasted budgets and cost reports
• Manage spending activity and reporting for company-issued business credit cards
• Communicate professionally with staff and vendors about payment processing procedures
• Prepare digital reporting and/or provide documentation as requested
• Adapt to ever-changing landscape of original content production, and related Accounting needs, within Spotify
• Take initiative around increasing efficiency in reporting and spending.
• Physically manage distribution of petty cash and credit cards to freelance line producers and employees for productions (over 50% of our productions occur in the LA area)
• Conduct meetings with payroll and cash flow vendors, which are based in LA
• Manage workflow in collaboration with Originals team, 90% of whom are based in LA
Requirements
• 5+ years experience as a Production Accountant in a studio environment
• Expert in production payroll with contacts in the industry
• Accounting, finance, or quantitative undergraduate degree
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to adhere to accounting policies
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and deliver creative solutions to dynamic production issues
• Proven experience wrapping productions digitally
• Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
• Proven track record managing multiple projects in a large organization
• Superior oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Google Apps to manage workflow, proficiency with Gmail
