Job Summary
Manage a cross functional team of engineers who ensure the repair, coordination and resolution of customer impacting issues in a timely manner. The team also performs as subject matter experts in existing network technology, while exploring and testing new generation products and functionality. Currently, the position support the operation, implementation, management, and defense of a nationwide fiber optic transport network and two geographically separated network support centers. The network is expected to sustain continual growth to include additional sites and customers across the life of the program. The responsibilities of this position will continue to grow as additional portions of the network are accredited and achieve operational status, and as additional customer groups are added to the network.
Job Description
• Provides immediate supervision and may perform individual tasks related to group.
• Typically have 8 or more direct reports.
• Provides guidance to technicians performing complex design, development, and implementation work by established goals and processes.
• Recommends changes to establish polices in research, design, planning and development of new advanced technologies, components and communication/data transmission.
• Responsible for presenting technical information related to specific projects or tasks and communicating schedules and timelines.
• Follow operational documentation including guidelines, policies, processes, and standards.
• Read and interpret engineering documentation including but not limited to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Test and Turn-Up guides (TTU); while being able to communicate feedback and provide corrections through redlining.
• Must be able to learn new technologies that are continually being added to the network to meet the needs of the customer base
• Provide concise and accurate status reports to management
• Must be able to work well with others to achieve common goals and to foster a cooperative climate
• Must be able to demonstrate computer skills. Should have ability to input data in spreadsheets, word docs and send as email attachment.
• Follow operational documentation including guidelines, policies, processes, and standards.
• Facilitate training to NOC personnel to reduce the number of escalations
Qualifications
• This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• 8 - 10 years related experience.
• 1 year previous supervisory / leadership experience required
• Field installation or test and turn up experience
• Able to work independently and in a multi-disciplined team environment
• Flexible work schedule as needed
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
