Job Description
This position will provide accounts payable analysis for NSSC-supported TEGNA sites. Additionally, this position provides ongoing accounts payable support including, but not limited to the production of check run process, review of processor batches, monthly a/p closing, issuance of 1099s, use taxation support, unclaimed property processes, open payables work, auditing of processor vendor maintenance and managing vendor holds. This position also handles Pcard processing monitoring and metrics analysis.
Responsibilities:
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SUPPORT AND APPROPRIATE ANALYSIS:
• Assists in ensuring accounts payable is operating efficiently and within procedural guidelines. Provides recommendations for change as needed.
• Supports NSSC staff with use taxation guidance. Ensure the NSSC is paying the proper amount of sales/use tax on processed invoices. This will involve tax research, sales/use tax audits, extensive interaction with NSSC processors and site liaisons and other relevant tasks.
• Handles all tasks associated with the accounts payable check run/follow up with banking partner and bank reconciliation issues.
• Liaison for unclaimed property process and sales tax audits
• Reviews and approves vendor maintenance changes, batch releases and oversees vendor holds.
• Research and resolve open payables issues
• Maintain high-level of site auto-flow percentages, including the use of contract matching. Set up process & maintenance as needed, recommendations to sites.
• Maintain superior Business unit and vendor relationships
• Complete monthly close
• Handles annual 1099 issuance and related work
• Handles Quarterly Audits
• Provides overall assistance to Accounts Payable Supervisor as it relates to accounts payable
PCARD PROCESSING SUPPORT:
• Ensure overall flow of Pcard accounts payable processing stays on track and within our goals.
• Monitor Pcard banking system to ensure all payments are pushed through the system in a timely manner.
• Research any problem transactions and follow-through on any disputed charges.
• Work with the GL team on matching of Pcard transactions and cleanup of any old or outstanding transactions that need to be resolved.
• Grow the P-card program by increasing the number of vendors who are set to pay via P-card. Provide and analyze goal results.
• Liaison with general ledger staff regarding the NSSC Pcard reconciliations and other issues
• Maintain superior Business unit and vendor relationships
• Work with IT on software issues/upgrades/etc
• Other duties as assigned including one-time and/or ongoing projects
Skills and Abilities:
This individual will possess a good knowledge of accounts payable policies and procedures. This individual will also have good interpersonal and communications skills to ensure customer satisfaction and strong working relationships with all levels of staff, internal and external customers. Strong organizational and time management skills are required. Desire, abilityand curiosity to investigate and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and technology is also necessary. Problem solving/analytical skills are required. Must have demonstrated ability to interpret and implement accounting procedures with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of Pcard and accounts payable processing. Good working knowledge of Microsoft and iSeries (AS400) environment, Lawson accounts payable system, 1099 software, and BasWare.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
• Minimum 3-5 years of accounts payable experience required.
• Shared service experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Pcard processing, 1099 filings, and sales tax knowledge.
• Must be analytically minded.
