We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Manager with expertise in hardware sensors and devices to join our small but growing team at Bose to help bring new capabilities and experiences to people who rely on headsets to provide critical communication. This person will provide the management and administrative effort required to plan, organize, control and report on integration efforts related to multiple product development projects within the confines of the functional organization. This position will work closely with sales and marketing, engineering and platform product managers to identify use cases and technologies that will benefit end users. This effort will also include work to identify, develop and sustain growth opportunities across divisional lines that leverage work done throughout the company for the specific benefit of the identified categories and products. In addition, significant efforts will be required to help evolve and deliver strategies and tactics around partnerships and licensing opportunities outside the company which will further imbed and grow business opportunities.
This position will emphasize the engineering-facing side of “Product Management” with specific focus on technology integration, product architecture (software and hardware), with direct impact on defining new customer use cases and needs.
Essential Job Functions Include
Manage alongside other product managers and program managers the integration and strategic planning to the tactical (task related) activities associated with executing project and product plans.
Identify opportunities for new product development using existing and or new sensors in the market. Conduct market, product, competitor and customer research to determine unmet customer needs and translate into product requirements.
Develop, implement and execute in-house and field evaluations of new prototypes and/ or competitive products and communicate learning to engineering and sales teams.
Manages development of sensor relationships by actively collaborating with Engineering (software, mechanical, and electrical), Operations and Sales teams from development through all phases of the development process cycle.
Act at times like an application engineer on technical sales lifecycle, product support and market application development.
Serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for sensor integration efforts.
Identifies opportunities for sensor product development by conducting market, product, competitor and customer research to determine unmet customer needs and translate into product requirements.
Analysis of potential partnering relationships related to manufacturer’s representatives, OEM and private labeling of products.
Work with Sales Managers and Marketing Communications to develop effective sales & marketing materials/collateral that will enable the attainment of the most profitable market share levels.
Take direction and guidance from platform product managers while providing status and progress on key company initiatives. Identify and communicate barriers, issues and problems with respect to projects.
Works with the Engineering Management and Product Management to define, set and review quarterly and yearly objectives.
Contribute to division specific business plans, including roadmap and strategy reviews quarterly.
Provide training and support to inside and outside sales channels.
Other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have 2+ years of Product Management experience. Sensor experience preferred.
Market experience within technical or prosumer businesses where products focus on communication areas exist are a plus (radios, intercoms, etc)
Firm understanding of the 4 P’s of marketing (Product, Price, Place and Promotion) needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.
Must possess excellent presentation skills.
Proficient in MS Office suite required.
Ability to use or understand Microsoft Project is a plus.
Strong technical aptitude and be able to learn our product line and customers in depth.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 20%.
Must possess ability to empathize with end users and identify latent needs

Other:
• BA/BS degree, preferably in engineering, technical discipline or marketing. Advanced degree (MBA) highly desired.

• Work with marketing and sales colleagues to create effective plans and methods to reach new customers
