The SVP, Trade Marketing will lead the Group’s marketing initiatives by outlining objectives and strategies to achieve stated goals through integrated online and offline promotion, publicity, social media and advertising plans. The marketing team’s mandate is to create, plan and implement dynamic and innovative marketing strategies and promotional campaigns for Trade’s front list and backlist, as well as e-books and other products. The marketing campaigns will have an emphasis on creatively reaching end-consumers through traditional press and media, online, social-networking and other media outlets. The overall objective is to drive sales and revenue growth through traditional, online and specialty retailers.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Oversee offline and online content strategies for TV, print, radio, outdoor and event marketing, as well as web and Facebook builds, app development, videos, e-newsletters, banner and mobile advertising, live streaming events and search campaigns;
• Lead a team of Marketing Directors, working closely with Editorial, Sales and Publicity, to strategize, plan and implement innovative marketing campaigns for individual titles and overall lists;
• Lead the Creative Services team in the creation of all promotion and advertising pieces;
• Oversee marketing plans created by the team outlining specific goals and articulating strategies covering individual titles and book series. These plans shall be designed to generate sales, build brand awareness, and maximize exposure to the target audience through online, print, broadcast, and other channels;
• Develop creative and strategic initiatives to expand the online presence of products, authors, and brands in social media and other communities, in conjunction with relevant parties;
• Analyze and report on the results of marketing initiatives and their impact on sales through relevant analytics and optimize accordingly;
• Manage budgets, schedules, and priorities in support of these initiatives, taking into account the appropriate level of resources, target audience, type of media, materials, and associated events;
• Develop influencer network strategies across social media to maximize ROI;
• Develop retail marketing strategies, and, in consultation with Sales, develop concept account-specific marketing including, outlining cross-
merchandising opportunities, creating point-of-sale material, and developing multi-partner promotions;
• Communicate regularly with the President of the Trade Group on marketing initiatives, developments, and accomplishments and work with national account and specialty sales representatives to ensure customers are informed of publicity and marketing activities that will support sales efforts in the various channels;
• Work closely with the Group’s internal and external key collaborators to manage the development of and execution of all digital and non-digital advertising programs and create consummate collateral materials to support all marketing activities.
• This position will have personal contact on a day-to-day basis with the division’s Editorial, Design, and Sales functions.
The right candidate will be a classically trained marketer highly accomplished in integrated marketing and brand management. He/She will have more than 15 years’ experience in marketing of enthusiast or consumer-based products. Ideally, this experience will have been gained in a top medial entertainment company of both traditional and online products.

• Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt as job responsibilities and/or organization needs change;
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, and other desktop publishing programs;
• Willingness to travel to trade shows and conventions as needed;
• Ideally, a BA/BS in Marketing or an MBA;
• A roll-up-your-sleeves person who is also an adept strategist;
• High energy with a sense of urgency but a gift for remaining positive and calm under pressure and tight time lines—a mature adult with a strong work ethic;
• Culturally well-suited to a creative, intellectual, free-flowing, fast-paced, yet respectful and collaborative environment where the focus is on “thinking about what we can do better versus thinking about how we have always done it—encourages and likes to try new ideas;”
• Action and results oriented versus politically focused
