This position is responsible for the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule, in a centralized accounting environment providing corporate/division and regional/individual unit support. This position also ensures financial records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The position will be located at the Hearst Television, Inc business office in Charlotte, NC.
Job Responsibilities:
• Posts data to various ledgers, journals and reconciliations
• Responsible for closing major segments of monthly and annual financial books
• Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information & calculations and make correcting entries
• Prepares, maintains control, and is responsible for subsidiary accounting records involving a variety of transactions and accounts
• Prepare account analysis and reconciliations, ad hoc reports, and other monthly reports
• Assist in preparation of the monthly forecast
• Assist in preparation of the annual budget & year-end schedules
• Provide analytical assistance to regional and corporate finance/accounting teams
• Implements modifications to accounting systems
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Qualification Requirements:
• 3+ years of accounting/finance experience including month end close
• CPA a plus, but not required
• Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail
• Ability to work with accuracy and meet deadlines
• Highly organized, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to act and operate independently, with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish directives
• Ability to collaborate with others to meet a common goal
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, lookup functions)
• Experience with Oracle accounting software applications; experience with Hyperion Planning a plus
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
