HDM’s Enthusiast Group is seeking a Director of Content Strategy. This person will be responsible for overseeing the origination, planning, creation, editing, and distribution of strategically driven content across all digital channels of Runner’s World and Bicycling. Springing from — and ultimately informing — the group’s goals and analytics, the Director of Strategic Content sets publishing and content schedules for the brand sites, ideates and executes content strategy to meet all performance metrics (from traffic to engagement to affiliate to community relations), ensures quality of content, and manages the digital-centric content staff of the Enthusiast Group. The ideal candidate combines an editing and writing background with several years of experience as a metric-driven digital director or site director, plus an affinity for and knowledge of running and cycling.
The role is based either in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, or New York City. If in NYC, this person will need to work 1-2 days per week or one week per month in the Lehigh Valley office.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the Group Editorial Director, Test Director, and Features Director to plan and publish content in line with performance metrics
• Guide, edit, and mentor the team dedicated to strategic content creation and distribution
• Work with search, membership, affiliate, social and other departments to establish, understand, and execute against continually changing content performance metrics
• Establish a presence and maintain staff relationships in both the New York City and Lehigh Valley offices of the Enthusiast Group
Qualifications:
• 10+ years experience in editing, writing, or content creation and distribution
• 5+ years experience in strategic digital direction or in working as a Site Director, with active lifestyle or enthusiast experience a plus
• Must be able to manage feedback from multiple parties and deal with fast-changing priorities
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
• Must be able to work flexible hours as needed
