Pearson is constantly looking to add to our AMAZING team! Presently, we are in search of a highly skilled, detail-oriented, self-starter who can take on the role of Design Manager focusing on Secondary Literacy. Your strong print and digital product experience will play a key role as a member of the Creative Design and UX (CDUX) Team.
In this role, you will direct Design staff and external design services in the design of both print and digital product components. You will work closely with the Design Director, the full design team, and Editorial counterparts to assure that the overall vision of a given program is reflected in its art and design. It will also include design schedules monitored, assistance with creating and disseminating design procedures, managing and monitoring project art and design budgets, and always fostering respectful cross-functional relationships.
You will be responsible for the design development of differentiated and valued products and solutions, contributing to the development of plant budgets, accountable for effective design management of annual plant budgets, and managing a team of 2-6 people.
This opportunity is located at our Hoboken, NJoffice site, as our first preference. We will also consider Boston, MA, and the possibility of remote working options as secondary preference.

• Leadership and Management
• Supervise overall performance of in-house design team and outside design firms
• Communicates and interacts regularly with Editorial and Publishing Services team; Sets program design objectives with input from Editorial and Marketing
Qualifications
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Minimum BA/BFA from an accredited four-year college specializing in graphic design/fine art, or graduate of an art school or equivalent design work experience
• 3–6 years publishing experience, including a solid understanding of editorial, production, manufacturing, marketing, sales, and customer service roles and relationships
• Experience managing concurrent development of multiple components
• Experience managing art and design budgets
• Solid understanding of design solutions and manufacturing cost impacts on the P & L
• People management experience working collaboratively across functional areas
• Thorough knowledge of contemporary design trends and how they apply to company product lines
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate product strategies into innovative and profitable products and services
• Effective problem team player and problem solver
• Strong track record in developing innovative solutions
• Able to follow budget and schedule parameters
• Strong communication skills and excellent collaborator
• Strong knowledge of design software and hardware; including, but not limited to InDesign, Sketch, and Zeplin
