Description
WKBW-TV in Buffalo is looking for a Summer Intern! The Internship provides students real-world experience and a unique insight into all operations. This includes learning alongside Newsroom staff, Creative Services, Sales, and Production.
Key activities
• Conduct interviews
• Research stories
• Contributing story ideas
• Writing/editing news for the web
• How a content management system works
• How to track story page views online
• Basic HTML code
• Actual-on-the-job training from professionals
• Going into the field and help with stories
• Actual on-the-job training from professionals in the field of weather, reporting and producing
• How to develop research for the sales presentation
• How to develop sales presentations with customized clients solutions
• Learning agency and transactional processes
• How to negotiate
Education & Experience/Certifications
• Enrolled at an accredited college or university in NYS or resident of NYS
• Registered as a Sophomore or above and in good stranding
• Receive college/university course credit for participating in this program. The amount of course credit to be earned is determined and must be verified by the college/university, prior to starting assignment.
Skills & Abilities
• Computer/typing skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in person and on the phone
• Good organization skills
• Computer-based research abilities
• Strong writing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Dress professionally
