Job Description
This position serves as the leader and point person for all activities related to KGW’s innovative Pioneer Courthouse Square studio in downtown Portland. The studio, which features large windows to the public area known as “Portland’s Living Room’, will be a hub for KGW’s interaction with the community and this position will serve as an ambassador to our audience.
Our Square studio is set to be remodeled from the ground up in 2018. It will incorporate the latest news and social media technology, including large external-facing monitors, a studio for 2-3 live newscasts per day, a live-streaming studio, podcasting facilities and a space for small community events.
We are looking for someone who will be a champion for this new space and utilize it to its full potential as an interactive media space, a broadcast facility and a high-profile marketing resource. We need an Executive Producer who can think of new ways to use our studio and execute on that vision. This is brand new kind of position in our industry and we need someone who is not afraid to be different.
Responsibilities:
• Book, produce and host digital live chats, podcasts and interviews
• Work with newscast producers, reporters and anchors to hold Facebook Lives and other digital content extending before and/or after each day’s Square newscasts
• Monitor social media and user-generated content across various platforms to make sure external-facing Square monitors accurately reflect dynamic content
• Work with organizers of live events in the Square to find cross-promotional opportunities, including broadcast and digital interviews, social media promotions and other interactions
• Oversee Square content calendar following programmatic themed days
• Plan and host limited-audience public gatherings in the Square as needed
Work closely with all KGW departments (news, sales, marketing, business, technology) to achieve Square objectives
Job Requirements
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years media or marketing or studio-production experience; college degree in Journalism or marketing or digital communications preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Extensive knowledge of social media, online, mobile, etc. content gathering tools and technologies
• Strong communication, conflict management and customer service skills
• Experience in events, customer interactions, marketing relationships desirable
• Understand the tenets of professional Journalism
• Sound news and information judgment
• Deliver accurate content
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
• Ability to multitask and quickly adapt to new technology
• Successful completion of a drug screening
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends
