Description
The E.W. Scripps Company, an enterprise media company, is seeking a Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting. This person is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial data included in the company's internal and external financial reports. This position will be located in Cincinnati, OH.
Key Activities:
• Draft consolidated financial statements and notes as assigned by manager of financial reporting.
• Draft press release for quarterly earnings and quarterly board presentations.
• Draft Current Reports on Form 8-K.
• Assist in research for accounting treatment for proposed transactions and reporting requirements. Develop recommendations as to development of accounting policy and disclosures included in financial statements.
• Review and analyze consolidation schedules. Analyze key metrics to determine accuracy of reported amounts and investigate exceptions.
• Review and analyze key accounting estimates.
• Prepare calculation of weighted average shares outstanding for earnings per share.
• Assist in preparation of cash flow statement and related disclosures.
• Review SOX quarterly checklists, investigate policy exceptions and items identified for disclosure. Assess impact on financial statements and disclosures and recommend resolution.
• Draft financial statements for subsidiary companies with external reporting requirements.
Education and Experience / Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA preferred.
• 2 to 5 years big four public accounting experience preferred.
• Preferred hands-on operational experience related to external reporting within a public company including preparation and /or review of required SEC filings such as the Form 10-K and Form 10-Q.
• Preferred hands-on management reporting and financial planning and analysis-related experience at the corporate and/or operational level.
• Experience working with internal controls over financial reporting/Sarbanes-Oxley related experience.
Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency with MS Office, knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.
• Proven analytical aptitude and the ability to seek, digest and synthesize detailed information.
• Ability to work with individuals at all levels within and outside the company.
