SoulPancake is looking for a creative, experienced, and pioneering Head of Digital to help oversee and grow SoulPancake’s digital and social video content and platforms. The Head of Digital will oversee all content development, production operations, and distribution across SoulPancake’s owned and operated sites and platforms. This individual will have strong creative and development skills; a proven record of producing successful, cost-efficient digital, short-form, and social content; a passion for adapting to the various distribution platforms and their algorithm changes; and a strong understanding of the technical and logistical sides of efficient production and post-production operations. We expect this person to be equally skilled in big-picture strategy and creative development as well as tactical hands-on production, programming, and technical deployment. The Head of Digital will report directly to SoulPancake’s General Manager to build and implement a strategy for continuing growth in digital and social and identify the right partners, formats, and platforms for that growth. The ideal candidate will be a talented storyteller who is motivated, charismatic, thoughtful, and passionate about SoulPancake’s mission. Reponsibilities
◦ Establish and execute annual and long-term programming, digital video, and content strategy for SoulPancake’s various owned and operated digital and social platforms.
◦ Identify new opportunities to expand SoulPancake’s content footprint, including into OTT, apps, podcasts, live events, VR/AR, and other platforms.
◦ Provide direction for digital video strategy though research, audience identification, platform determination, and business goals.
◦ Continuously improve video strategy for SoulPancake by capturing and analyzing the appropriate data/metrics, insights, best practices, and then communicating findings with the company.
◦ Develop new series concepts, formats, ideas, and collaborations to achieve programming goals.
◦ Program SoulPancake’s annual daily digital video calendar across all platforms.
◦ Work with potential creative partners to develop and greenlight quarterly programming.
◦ Build relationships with key partners in the digital spaces.
◦ Scout for and find new and upcoming talent.
◦ Ensure all content and partners align with SoulPancake’s mission.
◦ Act as a liaison between SoulPancake and the larger digital/social community, building relationships with organizations and platforms where appropriate.
◦ Assemble appropriate, cost-efficient production teams and budgets to execute on content creation.
◦ Support technical, production, and post-production process for partner.
◦ Be involved, as needed, in overseeing productions on the ground and in the edit bay.
◦ Negotiate overall deals with vendors, post houses, coordinators, and other potential production and post partners to create cost efficiencies across programming.
◦ Manage annual budget and team to achieve all the responsibilities and content output goals for the digital division.
◦ Develop network of producers, filmmakers, and content creators build team of trusted content creators who understand the SoulPancake mission and aesthetic.
Skills & Requirements
◦ Minimum of 7 years of experience in video content development, production, and programming, preferably at a mid-size to large social or digital platform.
◦ Hands-on production experience and understanding of every part of the production process, including technical knowledge.
◦ Proven track record of greenlighting and developing successful social and digital content.
◦ Deep knowledge of analytics software and data-driven decision-making.
◦ Ability to galvanize teams around culture, activities, and mission.
◦ Self-starter with strong time-management skills.
◦ Tuned into the latest trends in digital, social video, and production.
◦ Strong organizational, networking, and communication skills.
◦ Must have a resilient, tenacious personality.
◦ Positive, upbeat problem solver.
◦ Empathetic and active listener.
◦ Outstanding production, technical, and computer skills, including a strong knowledge of cameras, G&E, and editorial in particular with the Adobe suite of products.
◦ Bachelor’s degree in production or film preferred.
Reports to: General Manager
