Associate Director – Global Asset Data
Job Description:
The role will sit within the GDO Business Transformation team which is tasked with assessing the current data landscape at Warner Music Group, determining a roadmap for the implementation of best practices, and acting as business advocates for software tools to improve workflows. Members of the team will partner with key stakeholders to prioritize efforts, obtain financial approvals, find internal and external development resources (as necessary), and shepherd the process through to a successful conclusion.
For this specific role responsibilities will be as follows.
• To oversee delivery of projects as requested by WMG business owners in asset and supply chain related fields.
Immediate projects in scope are as follows.
• Audio/video asset availability: Create a solution for audio/video assets not currently archived. The aim is to deliver one global solution that is capable of ingesting legacy material from a myriad of different storage solutions.
• Tracking pre-release assets: Outtakes & versions of studio recordings exist in many cases solely on an A&R’s laptop/memory stick meaning the piracy risk is large. Deliver a solution to collect the output in a timely manner after the project has run its course.
• Blockchain implementation: Evaluate the business case for blockchain as a cornerstone of company supply chain and data exchange processes. Engage with then blockchain community and communicate with company departments about blockchain to determine potential future benefits.
• Liaise with WMG label or commercial teams to understand and interpret requirements, propose solutions and update status via appropriate means.
• Ongoing management of the systems and process developments delivered in support of the above initiatives.
• As needed, manage 3rd party technology or project support resources required to efficiently deliver on project requirements.
• Manage GDO budget associated to relevant projects.
• Provide training materials and appropriate training support for systems delivered ongoing.
• Collaborate closely with the following teams throughout project delivery to identify synergies and avoid duplication of effort:
• WEA Studio Services and Digital Supply Chain teams
• Firepit Innovation team
• WMG IT
• WMG Business Transformation team.
• Identify additional resource requirements for delivery and ongoing management of the above solutions.
• Collaborate with appropriate technology teams (internal or external) to drive continuous improvement of systems delivered.
• Define relevant metrics for effective management of solutions provided, drive provision of these metrics and act on insight provided as appropriate.
• Provision of clear communication updates (written and verbal) to peers, stakeholders and executives regarding strategy and status of projects being managed.
• Oversee other asset and supply chain related (or ad-hoc) projects as required by WMG business or GDO group.
• Delivery of ad-hoc tasks when necessary as assigned by Chief Data Officer or SVP Data Operations.
Required Competencies/Skills:
• Operational experience in a digital asset/production or supply chain role.
• Track record of effective interaction with label/creative teams in the music industry.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to oversee and drive working groups as dictated by project requirements.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Powerpoint).
Preferred Professional Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• 5 years music industry experience
• 2 years of music supply chain experience
