Email Marketing Manager
Random House Publishing Group is seeking an Email Marketing Manager to lead our Audience Development team, which is charged with overall direct-to-reader engagement programs in email. The Email Marketing Manager will create targeted, attractive, and compelling consumer-focused emails about Random House books, authors, and content. The successful candidate will craft communication strategies and build/deploy emails that drive subscriber acquisition and engagement through design, layout and content, helping to define a unique Random House style. He/she will be able to come up with creative ideas and dig into the details to drive results.
Position Summary:
• Strategic execution of all Random House email marketing initiatives, including coordination of newsletter editorial and deployment schedule
• Manage and train a direct report in all aspects of the job
• Design compelling, mobile-friendly emails with graphic and text elements that customers want to read and share
• Analyze performance patterns and optimize for email variations, seasonality, relevance, and selection
• Create A/B test cases for Content, Subject Lines, Features and list filtering for segmented sends
• Use consumer database within email systems to identify and target customer segments
• Develop New Email Templates and Styles
• Coordinate with Marketing, Publicity and Editorial teams
• Light copy editing as newsletters warrant (Subject Lines, Headlines, Typographical Errors)
• Coordinate regular email acquisition campaigns in collaboration with Integrated Marketing team Director
• Build welcome and follow-up campaigns as well as plan out onboarding and retention for larger sweepstakes
• Analyze data from email client and website traffic reporting. Relay results/opportunities to team. Execute next steps as part of Audience Development initiatives
• Acts as a leader for Email Marketing best practices
Experience Required:
• 3/4+ years of Email Marketing Experience, Web Development, and/or Online Marketing
• Strong Experience with HTML and Email Marketing Software (Experian/CheetahMail a plus, but not required) and responsive design
• Familiarity with Email Marketing Guidelines and Best Practices
• Strong Written Communication and Project Management Skills. Ability to Multitask while Prioritizing Workload
• Possessing an Organized, Analytical, Detail-Oriented Approach to Projects. Ability to transition between the creative and analytical sides of marketing
• Willingness to work collaboratively and manage/lead across teams
• Possessing an ‘Entrepreneurial Spirit’ – the ideal candidate brings new ideas and solutions to the group and is open to experimentation in emerging technologies.
• Optional, but ideal: CMS Experience (WordPress preferred), Adobe SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics, familiarity with SQL databases
