Position Overview
This is an opportunity to join – and help lead – Autodesk’s global public relations team with a specific focus on the success of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) business line. We have a lot happening, and we need your help.
Builders rely on Autodesk’s globally leading design and construction management software to create the greatest modern achievements in the built world around us– the Shanghai Tower, New York’s One World Trade Center, stadiums everywhere like the new home to the Minnesota Vikings and the future home of the Los Angeles Rams, the airports from which millions of travelers will depart and arrive, and so much more.
We are at the heart of and leading major technology trends occurring in one of the world’s largest industries: the construction industry. Machine learning and construction? While they may seem like an oxymoron, it’s happening now and Autodesk is leading the way. Sounds crazy, we know, but you will drive conversations about trends such as virtual and augmented reality, machine learning and artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, reality capture, and an endless array of just plain cool stuff architects, engineers, and construction teams are deploying to build the spaces in which we live, work, and play, as well as the infrastructure that moves people and goods around the world.
You will dive into the Autodesk Boston BUILD Space, which serves as one of Autodesk’s global Technology Centers. What’s the BUILD Space? The Autodesk BUILD Space is a powerful place influencing the future of making things for the built world around us, and working in such close proximity to industry futurists is an extraordinary opportunity, including industry startups, academic and construction industry project teams. The 34,000 square foot space is a fantastic canvas for illustrating where the industry is headed, surrounded by entrepreneurs, robots and big machines.
If you choose to do so, you can sign up for training in the wood shop, metal and fabrication shops, laser cutting room, and all the other large format machines you could want to create a project of your own. It’s just one of the many perks of being Boston-based.
Responsibilities
• Our customers’ successes are our success. Together with our industry partners and our treasured customers, you will help identify, develop and execute multi-channel storytelling (owned, earned, social media) featuring their innovation leadership
• Be present in the industry. You will help coordinate and execute media at high-value industry events and conferences.
• Robots and big machines everywhere. You will help to identify and bring to life the exciting stories featuring our BUILD Space startups and residents
• Reservations for 10,000. You will fully engage in the development and execution of a high-caliber PR program for Autodesk’s annual customer conference, Autodesk University in Las Vegas, where top industry media rub elbows with more than 10,000 of Autodesk’s biggest fans, customers and partners
• Going global. Contribute to global news flow and collaborate with country communications team members around the world
• The craft. Develop, implement and report progress on PR elements including messaging, news announcements, digital social media content, press/analyst presentations, user references, contributed articles, and influencer events
• You are not expected to know everything on day one, but you are expected to have a ‘let’s do this’ spirit with a willingness to contribute hands on right out of the gate
Minimum Qualifications
• A BA/BS degree is required along with approximately 7-9 years public relations experience, ideally in software or technology, or in an AEC [Architecture, Engineering and Construction] related field, but this is flexible with proven communications experience in other sectors, public or private
• Demonstrates strong writing skills for all materials and audiences – blogs, press releases, responses to media requests, and routine business communications
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Can-do attitude a must and willingness to roll up your sleeves and do all kinds of work. While there is always exciting and fun storytelling to do in a dynamic and collaborative environment, you must be willing to do some of the more of the hum-drum, ho-hum, yawn-generating tasks such as collecting and reporting on coverage, logistics and planning, calendar-keeping, and executing events, etc. You’re not alone; we all do it
