Description
The Events Coordinator is responsible for coordinating community/company events that drive audience engagement and increase our stature in the community (spelling bee, awards programs, and charity events). This role is also responsible for working closely with departments to support and develop partnerships with local advertisers/clients to drive audiences to our products/services.
Key activities
• Coordinate local events and company partnerships with local advertisers/clients
• Assist in the development of budgets for events
• Research and assist in selling and securing major sponsorships
• Guide the creation of support materials needed for presentations to clients in regards to each event.
• Negotiate/secure contracts and insurance requirements for facilities, vendors, and entertainment
• Manage volunteer activity and work flow during events
• Assist in developing media plans and in-kind sponsorships for events.
• Attend and participate in partnership events and or projects.
• Assist in the development of new event opportunities.
• Assist with implementation of other corporate and regional marketing plans as needed.
Eduction/Experience
• Requires a BS/BA in communication, marketing, or related field, or equivalent.
• Generally a 2 to 3 years of related experience.
• Experience in sales, partnerships, sponsorships, events and/or working with advertisers is preferred
As Events Coordinator:
• Proven track record in event planning and marketing
• Ability to manage work flow of multiple facets of event marketing (internal and external)
• Able to foster strong working relationships with key internal and external partners to develop, coordinate and execute event opportunities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once while adhering to deadlines
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
• Exceptional organization and project management skills.
Work environment
• Heavy physical demands with respect to lifting; i. e. will routinely carry the tools of the trade to include a laptop computer, digital camera, trade show booths, boxes (up to 50 lbs. ), setting up displays and staying on your feet for extended hours.
• A relatively high degree of mental acuity and social skills are necessary to successfully interact with coworkers, business community and the general public, in a fast pace environment.
