RHCB - Publicity Assistant
Random House Children’s Books seeks a Publicity & Events Assistant to join its Publicity team.
This person will assist senior publicity staff with campaigns for their titles and coordinate publicity for some assigned titles under supervision.
We are looking for someone who can conceptualize creative out-of-the-box ideas for securing coverage for our authors/illustrators and brands.
Our ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, pay close attention to detail, and demonstrate a strong passion to work in children’s book publicity.
The ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also maintaining accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
General publicity responsibilities include:
• Assists senior publicity staff with campaigns for their titles.
• Promotes book/authors to media (radio, TV, online sources, etc.)
• Coordinates seasonal tour planning meetings.
• Helps to create publicity materials such as press releases, posters, and press kits.
• Researches and seeks out new media outlets for promotion of new books.
• Coordinates recap process for national author tours and events.
• Writes pitch materials for author programming opportunities nationwide.
• Compiles and distributes newspaper bestseller lists to the division.
• Performs other related projects or duties as assigned by department.
Event responsibilities include:
• Supports senior staff with national author tours, itineraries, travel and event logistics, and with a focus on special events, book festivals, cons and industry shows.
• Researches new event opportunities and venues, and developing relationships with external event coordinators including for retail accounts, trade organizations, cons and book festivals.
• Liaison within department for event support via social media.
• Compiles and manages events database.
• Assists in maintaining event budgets.
