Accounting Policy Manager
I. Job Summary| Major goals and objectives.
In this new position you will lead technical accounting research activities to support new strategic developments within the organization and will also manage the development and coordination of accounting policy and implementation of new accounting standards across the organization. You will assist senior management with making critical business decisions by providing the proper accounting treatment and impact analysis. This position is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and supporting compliance with accounting policies and their compliance with relevant authoritative accounting guidance. This position is also responsible for ensuring policies are accurate, current, and documented in a centrally located repository.
II. Essential Job Functions| Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
• Researches complex accounting issues and formulates and prepares position papers to ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Manages and leads projects related to the adoption and timely implementation of new accounting pronouncements across all areas of the company in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Assisting with the development of new policies relating to new or emerging accounting standards and supporting impact assessment.
• Tracking new pending accounting rules, assessing organizational impact; and providing appropriate communication to senior management.
• Provides training and oversight to others on technical accounting activities.
• Participating in other projects at the discretion of the senior management.
• Interacting with the company’s external auditors. Assists with external audit activities including technical accounting work performed over new, complex transactions, new accounting standards, or changes in existing policies.
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements| All must be met to be considered.
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• CPA or MBA designation desired.
Experience:
• Public accounting experience highly considered.
• At least 6 years of public accounting or at least 6 years of technical accounting role.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong technical financial skills and a comprehensive understanding of accounting, GAAP, PCAOB standards, and SEC regulations.
• Experience with monitoring standard-setting organizations (FASB, EITF, etc.)
• Strong track record of building relationships and effective processes to address complex issues.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Good time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
