Job Description Summary
The Corporate Partnerships team is responsible for building strategic partnerships with Fortune 500 companies who can advance National Geographic Society’s work and help it achieve its mission of “A Planet in Balance.” The Partnership Development & Operations Specialist will provide important sales support to the fast-moving partnerships team, and will play a critical role in the team’s success.
Responsibilities
• Manage pipeline tracking and communication and help advance high priority Prospects & Opportunities. Oversee Salesforce CRM tools to ensure all partnership development efforts are captured, tracked and appropriately shared. (25%)
• Be the lead generator for the team by developing and executing strategic prospecting plan to engage Fortune 500 companies. You proactively read the trades, use LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other social radar tools to thoughtfully and strategically engage prospective and existing partners in relevant conversation. You take a deep interest in the needs of different customers in each vertical (e.g. Tech, Travel, Consumer Goods, etc.) and use that understanding to then cultivate new leads by ensuring a consistent and relevant communications strategy for each and every prospect tied to their interests. (20%)
• Work closely with business development, account management and solutions team to put into place systems and operations in order to efficiently manage the overall deal lifecycle: cultivation, proposal, negotiation, close, fulfillment, etc. (25%)
• Merchandise National Geographic Society to key prospects through strategic communication and secure their involvement (and manage related logistics) at relevant events including NG Live, National Geographic Photo Seminar and Explorer’s Festival. (20%)
• Recommend conferences and other strategies for getting quality leads and engagements. (10%)
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s Degree Required. (Experience in Communications, Sales, Marketing, Business Development, New Media or Public Relations preferred).
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
3-5 years proven working experience in a fast-paced, results oriented sales or marketing environment.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Proven work experience as a sales support, marketing or social media specialist. Hands on experience with Salesforce CRM system and also ideally with applications like DocuSign, Trello, Slack. Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multi-tasking and organizational ability. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Understanding and appreciation of NGS mission and capacity to project aims and values of NGS to corporate partners and prospects. Experience in a non-profit fundraising environment helpful. Professional demeanor when interacting with senior executives both internally and with customers and prospects.
