The Benefit Specialist provides administrative support to the Sr. Manager, Benefits. As a member of the Benefits Department, the Specialist will work closely with the other members of the HR team to coordinate, initiate, and complete benefit tasks with respect to all health and welfare benefits including, health insurance, voluntary benefits, short-term and long-term disability, FMLA, life insurance conversions and responding to benefit inquires received through the Benefit Resources phone number and email. The Specialist will support inquiries from legal, HRBP and US and Canada based employees.
Essential Job Functions:
• Assist employees regarding benefits issues and plan questions via phone and email
• Work closely with carriers and/or broker to resolve any claim issues
• Maintain employee benefits systems and ensures benefit changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction
• Administer and track new hire enrollments for US and Canada
• Track and report FMLA, ADA and disability claims
• Process life insurance claims
• Work with HRBPs on FMLA and disability claim issues and administration
• Provide ongoing support for benefits and HR team
• Assist with Annual Enrollment planning & execution
• Complete special projects as needed
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree. CEBS or other benefits certification a plus. Previous benefits experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of benefit experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to assist with customer service interactions with employees and vendors.
Preferred Experience:
Previous benefit experience in handling FMLA and disability administration in an outsourced enviroment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Health & Welfare, FMLA and disability administration, business writing, effective communication and Microsoft Office experience
