Job Summary
Under general supervision, determines the quantity and order date for materials needed to meet appropriate schedules. Initiates purchase requisitions as needed.
Responsibilities
• Manage material supply to meet production requirements and operational needs.
• Place appropriate purchase orders to suppliers for the needed resources based on terms and lead time.
• Performs data processing and administration in the automated inventory system.
• Controls supplies and stock by timely planning the correct quantity of parts, while at the same time optimizing the stock on hand.
• Reports potential short stock issues and remedy plan
• Ensure material arrives on-time and properly establishes appropriate inventory levels for the supply chain.
• Communicates and negotiates with vendors and customers.
• Serves as a point person for other departments, customers and vendors. Substantial sensitivity and cooperation required to manage customers, vendors, agents, contractors, and employees.
• Provides training to others upon new software releases.
• Communicates with vendors, freight companies, purchasing personnel, coordinators and contractors to expedite deliveries and reconcile problems.
• Identifies obsolete excess inventory for outside sale.
• Ensures accuracy of transaction history by comparing inventory and cost tracking reports to purchase requisitions, purchase orders and bills of lading.
• Maintains all return material authorizations (RMA) for return to vendors for credit.
• Corrects inventory level problems as they arise.
• Evaluates and implements new software releases.
• Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining inventory and requisition files and tracking supplier deliveries to ensure adherence to schedule commitments.
• Maintains files and provides timely reports using computer software.
• Keeps physical counts and dollar valuations.
• Ensures accurate material requirements by frequent meetings with various personnel.
• Establishes inventory valuations and cycle counts according to ABC inventory policies.
• Uses established back order procedures to expedite shortages.
• Analyzes detailed reports to control the valuation of inventory.
• Provides analysis of future requirements based on projected requirements and historical data.
Essential Functions
• Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and customers
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of statistics, trigonometry, algebra and geometry.
• Ability to use PC and automated inventory system
• Ability to work with customer group to bring out the win-win solution.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment.
• Ability to adapt and work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to solve problems and work under pressure
• Ability to find and move inventory as needed
• Ability to lift up to 50 pound
Qualifications / Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree equivalent experience.
• Three to five years of experience with the customers core business
• Minimum of three years materials management experience using an automated inventory system.
• Strong PC and application program knowledge is needed.
• Appropriate valid driver’s license and driving record within Company standards
• Requires a self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
• Attention to detail is essential.
Preferred Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred
