Senior Editor, Bon Appétit
Bon Appétit is looking for a Senior Editor to join our team of dedicated, hard-working, opinionated, occasionally funny, food-obsessed writers and editors.
In this role, you’ll:
• Conceive, assign, and edit our front-of-book print section covering restaurants, food and drink trends, and travel
• Guide and evolve our restaurant and culture coverage online, including our digital City Guides
• Tap into your network of chefs, restaurateurs, and writers to seek out the most powerful and important stories in the food world and find a home for them in Bon Appétit
• Collaborate across departments (Art, Photo, Test Kitchen) to plan and execute stories and packages
• Meet demanding deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment, agree to never abbreviate the word avocado
You should have:
• An established stable of writers and an extensive network of contacts in the food community. You know all the people who know all the things.
• An appetite (sorry) for culture and an interest not just in food but in how it intersects with art, design, and politics.
• Extremely strong organizational skills. You’re deadline-oriented and know how to get things done.
• 6+ years working in lifestyle or service-driven editorial.
• Passion for writing about food, reading about food, talking about food, and yes, even actually eating food.
• A vision for how to tell stories in new and interesting ways across various platforms: in a bitsy, FOB print section; in a feature story; in a video; or in a digital package. You know what story is best for which audience and how to craft it.
• Deep knowledge of the national restaurant scene and key international destinations.
• An ear for strong, engaging, knowledgeable writing.
