Overview and Responsibilities
The Director of Brand Marketing & Media Planning is a key leader on Comedy Central’s brand marketing team. This person directs the development of paid consumer marketing campaigns and will ensure Comedy Central develops innovative 360 degree campaigns while maintaining its brand position as a leader in the marketplace. This role reports to the VP of Brand Marketing & Media Planning.
Responsibilities Include:
BRAND MANAGEMENT
• Act as a brand steward for Comedy Central and know each franchise inside and out
• Demonstrate a deep knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm for all things Comedy Central
• Ensure all branding and messaging is on strategy without sacrificing brand integrity
MEDIA CAMPAIGNS
• Manage all aspects of developing paid consumer and trade media campaigns and oversee campaign execution
• Ensure all paid marketing efforts are executed on-strategy, on-brand, on-time, and on-budget
• Direct media agency on campaign initiatives, provide feedback and strategic guidance
• Analyze and dissect media plan recommendations and know how to optimize against key metrics
• Identify targeted and innovative media vehicles consistent with campaign objectives and strategies
• Initiate workflows, and manage timelines and resources accordingly for multiple projects
• Lead communications on media buys with various partners to ensure strategic and creative cohesion
• Work closely with Digital Marketing team to build and refine media plans and budgets on platforms including: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
• Oversee development of key reporting and communication documents including campaign recap docs, one-sheets and campaign launch decks
• Manage day-to-day Marketing budget, pacings to finance, accruals, and reconciliations.
Serve as key Brand Marketing contact for other internal teams
DATA, RESEARCH, & ANALYTICS
• Review and analyze Nielsen ratings performance to determine effectiveness of marketing plans
• Translate key research reports into strategic recommendations for senior staff
• Review targeted spends and make real-time adjustments to optimize campaign objectives
• Track competitive activity and new marketing opportunities in the industry
STAFF MANAGEMENT
• Manage daily responsibilities, workflow and development of Manager & Coordinator
• Train, teach, develop, and inspire team members when planning, building, and executing campaigns
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree (in Marketing or Business preferred)
• 6-8 years buying, planning, and executing paid media campaigns (Digital, TV, OOH, Radio, and Print) – preferably for TV tune-in
• 3+ years of management experience and demonstrated team leadership
Additional Qualifications
• Advanced understanding of key TV ad buying insights (Nielsen ratings, local markets, HUT/PUTs, etc)
• Deep understanding of all aspects of the digital ad space (Display, Video, eCPMs, Comscore, Viewbility, etc)
• Skilled at interpreting specs (Digital, TV, OOH, Print, etc.) and translating key info into strategic guidance for the creative team
• Extensive experience with budget management, specifically managing large-scale budgets for multiple projects at the same time
• Ability to juggle multiple projects with ease and perform under pressure
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Some travel required (10-15%)
• Data driven creative guru with an ability to think both creatively and strategically
• Strong working relationships within the advertising, entertainment, and media industry
• Ambition to disrupt the marketplace with innovative marketing campaigns and tactics
• Flexible, collaborative, team player who can build strong working relationships
• Strong organization and communication skills (written & verbal)
