Position summary:
The Sr. Director, Corporate Business Continuity is responsible for leading, implementing and managing Comcast's enterprise-wide business continuity program, including the development of corporate-wide policies, strategies, frameworks, methodologies and tools. This position's responsibilities include Emergency Preparedness Planning, Incident Management Planning, Technology Resiliency Planning and Business Resumption Planning and works in close partnership with the business continuity leadership teams of Comcast Cable, NBCUniversal, and Spectacor. The Sr. Director partners with business groups to assure assessments are conducted to identify operational risks, quantify their impacts to business operations and to align key stakeholders around cost-effective proactive and reactive strategies, their prioritization and implementation strategies. This position is also responsible for assessing the overall maturity of business continuity planning within the Company and assuring exercises are conducted to validate plans and that teams are trained to effectively respond to disasters affecting the Company.
The position reports on the overall maturity of business continuity programs, state of preparedness and the management of significant operational risks to the enterprise to Executive Management, the Enterprise Risk Management Committee and to the Governance and Directors Governance Committee of the Board (as necessary).
Major Accountabilities:
1.Leads the development of business continuation policies, standards, guidelines for the Company and assures their alignment and integration across all Comcast business entities.
2.Leads the overall coordination for planning and priority setting of business continuity objectives and initiatives across Comcast business entities and assures their implementation and compliance with applicable business continuity policies and guidelines.
3.Partners with business entities to standardize, where possible, methodologies, processes, templates, and tools for implementing business continuity initiatives within Comcast.
4.Partners with business unit management to conduct assessments that identify and quantify risks to locations, processes and technologies, and align management around major risks, their prioritization and implementation strategies.
5.Partners with business unit management to implement standards and guidelines that assure mission critical business operations and services are designed, deployed, and supported based upon their value to the business.
6.Partners with business unit management in conducting business impact analyses to assess recovery requirements verses recovery capabilities, and develop strategies to mitigate significant gaps.
7.Partners with business entities to assure the development of an integrated incident/crisis management and emergency preparedness planning process.
8.Coordinates or facilitates the response to a disaster, significant incident, or disruption in accordance with the policies or procedures of the business entities.
9.Coordinates closely with cyber teams and technical incident management programs for outage management and technology recovery.
10.Facilitates or reviews After Action Reviews (AARs) following an incident or exercise to assess the response effort, identify lessons learned that need to be incorporated in the plans and enhance response capabilities, and reporting these findings and recommendations to the appropriate business unit management group.
11.Leads the planning and response efforts for the Comcast Campus Incident Management Team, Floor Captain Program and exercise development to assure teams can respond effectively to incidents affecting the Comcast Campus.
12. Partners with business unit management in the development of training programs and exercises to assure business unit plans can be executed as designed and to train teams to assure roles, responsibilities and plans are clearly understood.
13.Keeps abreast of new methodologies and strategies for business continuity planning to identify opportunities to improve overall business resiliency strategies and plans for the company.
14.Represents Comcast in professional organizations and works with business concerns that provide business continuity planning services to enlist their expertise in supporting the company's evolving business needs.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior-level management role related to business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident management planning is required. Generally requires 14+ years related experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in a business or computer related discipline is required.
• A strong knowledge of Comcast's business operations and infrastructure is a plus.
• Strong presentation, verbal and written skills are required.
• Experience in project management, group facilitation and training are required.
• Excellent leadership, team building and problem solving skills are required.
Problem Solving:
The Sr. Director, Corporate Business Continuity, is challenged to deal with complex business and technical operating environments and must understand how each business entities operates to be effective in integrating business continuity planning across the Company. The senior director must be able to interpret business continuity strategies and guidelines with overall corporate strategies and business operations. The incumbent must exercise creativity in dealing with business unit management to integrate within the business unit and to establish business unit ownership of their business continuity plans.
Decision Making:
The Sr. Director Corporate Business Continuity partners with business unit management to coordinate the development, implementation and maintenance of business continuity plans within the business unit. The position provides consulting and training expertise for the business unit and advises them on the appropriate planning required to support business unit resumption and restoration strategies. The position partners with other MBUs and departments by providing expertise and support of business unit resumption and restoration strategies and requirements. The position provides ongoing support and training to business units to validate the plans developed can be executed as designed.
