Media Artist (Gameplay Capture Artist) - Temp
Blizzard Video is the group behind the gameplay trailers and live action videos for all your favorite Blizzard games. We exist to engage, inform and activate the global Blizzard community. Our content includes internet breaking Blizzcon reveals, updates with developer insight, top secret internal communications, and all the videos in between. We are looking for an experienced ‘Gameplay Capture Artist’ (Media Artist) to join our team under a temporary contract. The ideal candidate is a sharp, creative problem solver with an artistic eye. You should have a passion for video games and visual storytelling and enjoy working on an open and collaborative team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Controlling characters as a ‘stickman’ for multiplayer setups ranging from small groups to full on forty-person raids.
• Running the camera and capturing a range of footage from single animations to complicated multi character scenarios, including fully choreographed or raw gameplay sequences with large multiplayer groups.
• Lighting in-game sets or characters and building environments from scratch inside the various game editors.
• Sorting recorded footage and delivering to editors using Adobe Premiere.
• Research and development of future content and tools.
• Updating and maintaining internal wikis and shot-lists for projects and workflows.
• Working directly with developers from the game team to ensure that content is ready to shoot.
REQUIREMENTS:
• At least two years of experience working on gameplay capture related projects in a professional environment.
• Knowledge of and passion for Blizzard Entertainment IP’s with a high-level character or ranking in at least one Blizzard IP.
• Exceptional eye for shot composition and framing, with professional examples.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to QC your own work under tight deadlines.
• A high level of comfort and familiarity with controller and keyboard based camera controls and experience running the camera solo and in multiplayer scenarios.
• Ability to take direction, as well as learn and implement new processes at a rapid pace.
• Professional experience working in an environment that requires rapid project turnaround, and frequent priority shifts.
• Amazing creativity, and a demonstrated ability to generate innovative concepts, designs, and ideas in a professional environment.
• Able to communicate effectively across multiple teams, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• You are a top collaborator and work well in a team environment, and are comfortable with an iterative design process.
PLUSES:
• Professional experience with software such as Premiere Pro, After Effects or equivalent.
• You are comfortable working in game engines such as Unreal and Unity, or other game editing tools such as Source Filmmaker or StarCraft Editor.
• You can show us examples of your work in a 3D application like Maya, Blender or Zbrush.
• You are a professional photographer or cinematographer with appropriate experience that would carry over into gameplay capture work.
