The Associate Producer for Original Programming is responsible for creating and producing video content specifically for Seeker’s major outlets on YouTube and Facebook Watch. This position is part of the Seeker Originals team, serving as a key contributor to the growth of Seeker by creating innovative, on-brand content, to be published on our existing properties.
This role also works closely with the Seeker Audience Development team to ensure consistency of tone and to track data analytics on posts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conceive, write, and help produce video programming for Seeker’s original properties (YouTube, Facebook Watch)
• Pitch ideas daily and assist in the development and production of special projects and formats
• Fact check scripts, pull additional sources where needed and communicate errors to the Producer and/or writer
• Foster relationships with scientists, research institutions, and scientific organizations to build a stream of leads for new productions and to help gather and license footage
• Identify and research video assets and photos from around the web to repurpose for content
• Support producers during studio production, field production and running teleprompter
• Work closely with Producers and Production Management to coordinate production schedules, calendars, talent, and resources
• Assist in B-rolling scripts and setting-up a project for post-production
• Work with talent and offer direction to video editors as needed
• Create thumbnails and brainstorm titles for show packaging on Facebook and YouTube
• Be responsible for preparing and publishing content
• Script writing where required
• Collaborate with show producer on feedback and deliverables
Required Skills:
• At least 2 years of experience producing digital media video content
• Very strong research and writing skills
• Proficient in Photoshop
• Familiarity with Adobe Suite and photography basics
• Must be creative and proactive
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and deliver within budget
• Must feel comfortable working independently
• Must be able to communicate effectively
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Very close attention to detail
• A committed work ethic
• Able to work extended hours as necessary
• Familiar with camera and studio operations
• A passion for science and telling stories that relate to it
• An enthusiasm for research topics and current events as they relate to science and innovation
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
