Senior Editor / Community Manager
IndustryWeek is looking for an experienced Senior Editor skilled at overseeing all aspects of digital content production to take charge of the growing volume of contributed content, manage all communications and the relationship with community contributors, and manage the flow of all content for IndustryWeek from delivery through to promotion.
As a Community Manager, you should be passionate about the manufacturing industry and the IndustryWeek brand, eager to engage with manufacturing professionals and contributors, dedicated to growing our community of Contributing Experts, and committed to ensuring our readers have the best possible experience.
Responsibilities:
• Own the tools and processes that facilitate a rapid growth in the volume of content for IndustryWeek
• Manage the flow of content from multiple sources, including staff, freelancers, community members, and third-party partners, from delivery through to promotion
• Develop and own the tracking mechanisms to ensure the right mix and volume of content by topic and type to meet traffics goals and fulfill requirements for a variety of delivery platforms and promotional vehicles including online, print, newsletters, and custom products
• Oversee and manage the performance of outside (third party) content producers and digital production partners to ensure adherence to quality and schedules
• Develop the Contributing Experts program on IndustryWeek, including the creation of an onboarding guide, style guide, copyright release, and workflows
• Recruit and vet community contributors for the Contributing Experts program, including influencers, practitioners, and subject matter experts to create relevant, highly engaging content for the IndustryWeek audience and assist in the promotion of it through a variety of social media platforms
• In addition, find new content partners and sources of contributed content, including vendors and suppliers, distributors, associations, consultants, book authors, and student, for the Contributing Experts program
• Manage the ongoing relationship with all Contributing Experts, including assigning topics and ensuring deadlines, editing as needed, and managing the flow of content from delivery through to promotion
• Manage all communications with Contributing Experts, including the sharing of metrics and feedback on content performance and social media uptake; brainstorm article ideas; ensure that our contributors are engaged and feel valued
• Although writing content is not a primary responsibility, there will be a need to cover events, participate in press briefings, and author short articles and blogs
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Journalism or related field
• Community management experience preferred
• Established B2B publishing experience required, with a solid understanding of digital content production process, production, and general online publishing needs
• A nimble multi-tasker who is ridiculously organized and able to manage a heavy volume of deadlines, editorial schedules, editing workflows
• Knowledge and experience working with contributing writers, external media contacts, contributing writers, and vendors/manufacturers
• Awesome ability to engage with and recruit outside contributors and reinforce the value they bring to IndustryWeek
• Great writing and editing skills
• Understanding of social media and its use to promote content
