Marketing Manager, PR and Social Media
Summary
Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Manager to join our US team located in Miami. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Manager will develop and implement creative marketing strategies for a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction titles across the PRHGE imprints, to reach the largest possible readership through innovative consumer-facing marketing campaigns.
Responsibilities
• Creates and executes integrated title-specific marketing plans. These plans shall be designed to generate sales and maximize exposure to the target audience through the use of multiple strategies and tactics, including social media, publicity, advertising, direct media pitches, etc.
• Manages book promotion plans and budgets
• Serves as the publicist for new general reader books, seeking speaking engagements and fielding media inquiries as appropriate.
• Works closely with authors on marketing and publicity initiatives.
• Develops and handles relationships with media, bloggers and influencers with the objective of gaining coverage for books and authors. Hires and directs the work of external PR staff. Writes Press releases.
• Organizes author events at book fairs, bookstores, etc. Coordinates with venue, selects an introducer, procures electronic needs, makes travel arrangements, invites targeted audience, etc.
• Targets available audiences for assigned titles - and strategizes ways to reach them through advertising and promotion
• Communicates plans and strategies to in-house team, including editorial and sales department.
• Develops product positioning and brand messaging, utilizing digital as well as traditional media.
• Manages social networking vehicles used in book promotion
• Writes ad copy and provides design direction, and develop short- and long-form content for social media (tweets, blogs, etc.).
• Creates marketing strategies and online content.
• Occasionally travels with authors for book tours.
• Reviews and shares post-mortem analysis of each measurable campaign for future opportunities.
• Develops the e-mail marketing plan: segmentation of the database, elimination of hard bounces, reactivation of inactive users, actions with VIP users, creation and scheduling of transactional mailings, periodic newsletters, and email marketing campaigns. Creates and send newsletters and mailings.
• Works on catalogs, ads, and direct mail, as required for the audience and seasonal list.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Native level in Spanish. Fluent in English.
• Superior verbal, written, and phone-based communication skills in Spanish.
• Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented. Demonstrates strong customer service social skills such as empathy, patience, advocacy and conflict resolution.
• Self-starter with the ability to work with a minimum of day-to-day supervision
• Fluency in key marketing concepts and tools including email, social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram a must), search, as well as traditional book marketing methods.
• Strong knowledge of how to use digital marketing tools and social media for promotion. Experience with CRM desirable. Basic technical skills (HTML and any design experience a plus).
• Understanding of the principles of SEO, including keyword research and Google Analytics.
• Strong analytical skills
• Experience creating appealing visuals for online content and social posts.
• Knowledge of the Hispanic market in the US preferred
• Previous experience in the online marketing, online sales, editorial field or digital contents preferred.
• Advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint.
