Description
The Digital Content Editor works closely with Director of Marketing & Communications to strategize, evaluate, and implement all aspects of ICA’s external communications focused on expanding the museum’s innovative, rotating, online presence and messaging. As a writer the goal is to develop engaging, accessible language without flattening the complexities of challenging contemporary art. The Digital Content Editor is the second in a two-person department at a non-collecting, admission-free museum with continually rotating exhibitions and events serving UPenn and other college-age students, diverse area art and cultural communities, as well as international contemporary art audiences. The Digital Content Editor works closely with the Curatorial, Public Engagement, and Development Departments, along with occasional outside contractors to develop marketing content including artist interviews, promotional campaigns, and public program descriptions.
Main responsibilities center on conceptualizing and producing content for ICA’s website and social media as a way of informing audiences of different backgrounds, and varied familiarity with ICA (from the most seasoned visitor to the newest Penn undergraduate or the West Philadelphia resident who has never visited the museum), of the museum’s offerings and creating compelling ‘invitations’ to visit and engage ICA in conversation; identifying and creating strategic partnerships among UPenn students as well as with art and culture influencers representing the diversity of the Greater Philadelphia Area; strengthen ICA’s brand as a welcoming, public space where one can explore ‘the unknown’, engage in critical thinking and invaluable life-long learning, seek restorative and meditative space, and interact with diverse audiences through encounters with contemporary artists and ideas.
They will work closely with Curatorial and Public Engagement departments to develop digital content including event descriptions, social media campaigns, occasional artist interviews, live event streaming and engagement, and social postings drawing on ICA’s archive and/or related culture and timely art and social issues, on a limited budget, with occasional outside visual asset producers.
The Digital Content Editor is responsible for maintaining institutional identity standards on all communications and marketing materials.
They traffic production and maintain timelines of all digital and select printed communications.
