Pinterest is the visual discovery engine that empowers 200 million+ Pinners to discover and do what they love. With 100+ billion Pins, there’s a massive supply of data and insights on Pinterest—one of the most interesting data sets in the world, and the foundation of our leadership in visual discovery. With this data we can understand not only what people are interested in today, but the trends that are driving what will be of interest tomorrow. We’re looking for a data-savvy Consumer Insights Manager to join our Communications team who will become a subject matter expert on Pinterest’s internal insights and contribute to the external storytelling and delivery of these studies. This is a great role for an out-of-the-box, creative thinker who likes to take a story-based approach to data gathering and analysis to help drive awareness globally of what Pinterest is and why it matters.
What you'll do:
• Become an expert on Pinterest’s internal data in addition to pulling in data from syndicated sources such as comScore, our own research team and external data sources to deepen storytelling on behalf of the Pinterest brand
• Drive studies with topics ranging from consumer behavior, product usage, on-platform lifestyle trends, company milestones and larger industry trends
• Collaborate with the Comms team to explore new ways we can utilize Pinterest data that will elevate these studies via external and internal storytelling
• Act as a company spokesperson for consumer and trade media to tell stories about how people are using Pinterest
• Work in a fast-paced environment with technical and non-technical teams to translate data into actionable insights and consumer facing stories
What we're looking for:
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Strong analytical skills with 4+ years of experience simplifying complex findings and data sets to tell a compelling story
• Ability to identify trends not only from quantitative data, but also qualitative analysis of content in the context of the current media and pop culture landscape
• Experience with Excel, SQL, R, Python, SPSS, and Tableau, with an additional 2+ years of experience with data querying and manipulation in SQL
• Experience creating dashboards in Tableau preferred
• Experience with syndicated audience measurement data (comScore, Nielsen) preferred
• Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
• A team player who can work independently and in a fast-paced environment
What would be great:
• Previous experience speaking with media for print and on-camera interviews
• Previous experience working with marketing, content, and/or communications teams on data storytelling programs and projects; bonus for leading such teams/projects
• Self-starter who works well cross-functionally and can come up with new programs and opportunities while supporting and managing existing ones
