SECTION I. OVERVIEW/SUMMARY:
The role will be responsible for production of content and graphic design materials, including print and digital, to support custom MCSO projects as well as materials for special programs and events. Examples of work products include presentation materials and templates, brochures, signs, web site graphics, charts, diagrams, maps and more. A blend of experience in visual design, copywriting, content writing and editing will be critical to successfully achieving job objectives.
SECTION II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for creation and management of an intake process for visual design requests, helping turn information into appealing visual images using digital, electronic and print media.
• Responsible for all aspects of design, layout and formatting of materials in the creation and development of visual design concepts and communications for print and web production. Creates and manages processes and procedures that allow for successful identification of clients’ design needs, determines visual design format to use depending on client objectives, and delivers high quality products that meet or exceed client expectations
• Uses knowledge of typography, design elements, and visual placement to create overall visual effect
• Uses skills and creativity to identify, develop and implement new trends in visual media technology, animation, web applications, graphic design tools, streaming media and digital video with limited resources
• Uses fundamental and specialized methods of visual communications and adapts them in a variety formats such as brochures, posters, displays, slide shows, charts, diagrams, pamphlets, web-based information and other communication medias suitable for professional communications
• Skilled in copywriting, content writing, and editing to ensure accurate, high-quality content and communications
• Applies thought leadership to develop innovative solutions to problems
• Develops graphic executions across all media in adherence to brand standards
• Prepares estimates of cost and funding requirements for design requests that require extensive resource utilization
• Collaborates and shares designs and product information within MCSO and with other internal teams
Section III. Experience and Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Certificate or equivalent experience in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Digital Art or related digital media discipline required
• Knowledge of design principles with minimum 1-3 years of experience in hands-on design capacity required
• Experience with visual design, copywriting, content writing, proof reading including editing grammar, spelling and punctuation, required
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in the development of design processes, resources and products
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment required
• Must possess a strong sense of design and concept development ability as well as skills in communication, collaboration, writing, research, problem-solving and change strategies
