Description
The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Director, Audience Development to be based at our corporate office in Cincinnati, OH. This person will develop strategies to maximize the reach and impact of our local journalism, drive digital business opportunities direct from the consumer, and develop and lead the marketing of new revenue opportunities, including events and commerce.
Key activities:
• Partner with businesses and/or local stations to deliver results by developing, executing and iterating on innovative marketing tactics and campaigns that include both brand development and customer acquisition
• Develop and manage the execution of emerging platform marketing strategy to ensure that product objectives and sales goals are met
• Lead strategy for development and growth of business and/or local stations' e-commerce strategy, centered around local pride of place
• Work with business and/or local stations to develop and advance local events strategy focused on community engagement, authentic connections, alignment with the content strategy, and value for sponsoring businesses
• Develop best practices and workflows for social media partnerships and paid post strategy
• Partner with product team to further develop B2C digital consumer strategy
• Provide input on marketing strategy, coordinate activities, and ensure alignment
• Help define communication objectives and deliverables for creative staff for media marketing and new revenue initiatives
• Work with central team and local stations to define "community as a platform" across Scripps properties
• Work to identify, communicate and guide implementation of successful elements of market experimentation and engagement that can benefit other markets
• Establish measurement mechanisms to monitor performance of each initiative
• Assist marketing leaders in the implementation and optimization of highly targeted user acquisition campaigns using media such as Google, Facebook, and other various online campaigns to deliver growth of our digital audience and products
• Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience/Certifications
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, or related field - 5-10 years digital marketing experience
• Previous supervisory experience with proven results in delivering success in marketing programs
Skills & Abilities
• Proven record of innovation, imagination and success providing both strategic and creative direction to senior management
• Deep understanding of web analytics and how to use them for decision-making
• Proven strategic thought leadership to drive innovation and business results
• Strong collaboration and cross-functional influencing skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to generate reports, review analytics, business correspondence, and presentations
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple people and projects
• Excellent use of Microsoft Office
