KTNV Channel 13 Action News, the Scripps ABC station in Las Vegas is looking for an experienced, aggressive, innovative AM Executive Producer to lead a skilled team of journalists in covering one of America's fastest growing news markets. We broadcast a total of 43 hours of locally produced news each week, along with producing content 24/7 on digital web, mobile and social channels. Ideally, we're looking for a true show doctor who can work to level up our day to day Morning Show coverage and help us win the "big story" on-air and on-line with all of our digital platforms.
Key activities
• The Executive Producer has overall responsibility for newscasts, including oversight on story selection, content, and production, ensuring that the station is competitive within the market.
• Responsible for managing newscast content and showcasing across multiple platforms.
• Collaborate with Editors, Producers and the assignment desk to select stories for coverage.
• Oversee and edit the writing of content, including but not limited to teases and web headlines.
• Develop and supervise effective workflow strategies and procedures for multiple programs.
• Provide regular feedback on newscast with staff, both as a team and individually.
• Supervise pre-production to ensure quality and ethical standards and coordination between Control Room and design staff.
Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.
• Ability to create tactics and strategies to increase demo performance in key target areas for multiple platforms.
• Have working knowledge of federal, state and local laws impacting operations.
Education & Experience/Certifications
• At least 3 years of News Manager experience.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Broad understanding of newsroom operations and equipment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
