Description
Abbeville Press seeks an Associate Editor.
The Associate Editor will
—serve as project editor for five or more complex illustrated books per season, guiding them through all stages of the publication process, in cooperation with the design, production, and marketing departments;
—supervise the work of freelance translators, copy editors, proofreaders, and indexers;
—write fact sheet, catalog, and jacket copy, and present titles at sales conferences; and
—participate in the development and acquisition of new titles.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience as an editor of art books, illustrated books, or exhibition catalogs, and a thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style.
Also desirable are a knowledge of art history, a reading knowledge of one or more European languages, experience editing works in translation, and a strong visual sense.
This is a full-time salaried position, with benefits.
Salary commensurate with experience.
