Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Benefits Operations is responsible for the overall operation of the company's employee benefit programs. The benefit programs include self-insured medical plan, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, life, disability, transportation, accident, critical illness, defined contribution plan and non-qualified deferred compensation. The role will be responsible for overall plan management through renewals, requests for proposals, contracts and budgeting. In addition, this role will also be responsible for plan audit reconciliations, regulatory compliance and provide guidance and support to benefits administration team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage employee benefit plan renewals, implementations, and requests for proposals processes.
• Partner internally with Finance and Accounting by delivering accurate analytics and preparing for and responding to related benefit plan audits, and entering and maintaining benefit plan contracts.
• Ensure outside service providers deliver on the service needs and requirements of the company.
• Plan, monitor and execute on all compliance related deadlines and day-to-day activities; including but not limited to ERISA, ACA, IRS regulations and other legislative rules that impact benefit matters.
• Provide leadership to the benefits administration team through mentoring and development, and creating a positive, collaborative learning environment.
• Work with the HRIS administrator to manage benefits system integrations with third-party administrators.
• As part of a team, develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain total wellbeing program aimed at increasing benefit plan knowledge and awareness, reducing health risks, and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including wellness program initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This position has indirect supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant experience.
• Minimum of 2+ years of manager-level experience in benefits administration is required, along with 4 years of operational benefits experience.
• Completion of professional benefits certifications (i.e. CBP, CEBS, etc) a plus.
Requirements and General Skills:
• General knowledge of federal and state laws relating to benefit plans including ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA and FMLA.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with a strong emphasis on Excel.
• Experience with online benefits enrollment administration required.
