Description
Key Objectives:
Oversees the daily operation of all pools, and lifeguard-attended attractions within LEGOLAND California Resort, establishing and maintaining procedural, safety and guest service standards. Has responsibility for leadership and supervision of all Lifeguards, Head Lifeguards, Lead Lifeguards, and Pool Attendants. Primarily oversees and manages the Hotels’ pool operations including cabanas. Works closely with Hotel & Water Park Management to ensure successful operation of the hotel pool and water park. Oversees and facilitates maintenance to ensure pool safety, plans and construction quality specifications are met. Oversees, monitors, and evaluates the work performance of entire pool team.
Main Responsibilities:
Manages both hotel pools ensuring proper staffing levels and safety standards while maintaining exceptional guest service and cleanliness standards.
Contributes knowledge of aquatic safety and best practices to be constantly audited and evaluated (by self and other team members) within both pool areas.
Oversees the hiring and training of lifeguards according to the Lifeguard Provider’s standards in coordination with Water Park Management. Ensures that in-service training is adhered to and followed up on. Ensures that the lifeguards receive their required amount of audits.
Oversees the hiring and training of pool attendants to carry out daily duties including pool area cleanliness and cabana operation. Responsible for keeping accurate inventory and records of equipment/merchandise.
Ensures that all safety and sanitary requirements are met and that all regulations are enforced.
Reviews infrastructure, mechanical and other operational system requirements in accordance with plans and specifications. Evaluates and tests slides, attractions, and pools. Develop and implement standard operating procedures to exceed safety standards.
Inspects the pool areas and facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Documents and communicates findings and results; proposes corrective actions as the situation requires.
Develops detailed operational and safety procedures. Works with Hotel Maintenance to develop maintenance schedules and procedures. Maintain files and records of manuals, documentation and related product support materials.
Accountable for the leadership of the MCs: including training and development, appropriate coaching and counselling practices, recruiting and MC reviews.
Interacts and maintains relationship with outside governmental entities (IAM, Health Department, ETC) regarding safety and health concerns.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing professional publications.
Maintains knowledge on current changes in local, state, and federal standards regarding safety & health issues, pool cleanliness, and drain covers protocols.
Responsible for instilling a safety culture in the team keeping guest safety of utmost importance.
Measure staff engagement with safety through annual Wizard Wants to Know survey.
Able to assist Hotel/Water Park Management as needed, with primary focus on pool operations.
Operations
Responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to by staff and guests
To ensure a safe working environment at all times for both internal and external guests.
Use and maintain hotel/water park facilities and equipment
Follow all health and safety procedures
Marketing
Acquired product knowledge and keep updated on changes
Be aware of sales opportunities within the Hotel and stay current with resort promotions
Understand the resort’s objectives and what part they can play to ensure success
Financial
Ensure the hotel pool area and capacity is managed per DOSH/Water Park guidelines. Work with Water Park Manager to ensure Pool Operations budget is managed within given budget. Develop and analyze price points for cabana offerings and keep them in line with hotel revenue goals.
Development
Contribute to development of standards, procedures and efficiencies throughout department.
People
Ensure staffing levels are adequate for the day-to-day operation of the pool area, rotations and breaks are run effectively throughout the day.
Maintain minimum training as set down by the department’s procedure
Provide medical support from team when appropriate for guests
Provide excellent guest service with safety in mind
Take pride in their dress & appearance
Demonstrate ownership of all MC facilities
Health & Safety
This person is responsible for all aspects for Health, Safety, and Security within their area. This position must be aware of the IIPP (Injury and Illness Prevention Program) and their obligation under it. This position must follow all DOSH regulations for the Water Park. Lifeguards must ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times and must notify management of any areas of concern.
Job Requirements:
Requires at least five years of progressive experience in managing pools, slides, and lifeguards in a theme park or related industry. Demonstrated leadership experience and effective verbal and written communication skills required. This position requires a demonstrated track record of success in operating and maintaining pools, attractions, and slides. Requires mechanical aptitude and ability to ensure plans, specifications, safety and quality standards are met. Strong guest service, interpersonal and supervisory skills are required. Experience in ensuring guest safety through procedures, programs and instilling a safety culture is critical. Knowledge of budgeting and scheduling are required. Exhibits both the ability to work as a team member as well as the ability to work independently and execute projects within job scope. Exhibits patience, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
