As the Manager, Talent Development, you will lead a small but mighty global team of three regional Talent Development Leaders and two global program coordinators who are focused on our professional competency development initiatives for leaders, managers, teams and individual contributors. You will also be responsible for the development and delivery of custom business unit learning programs and the Bose Leadership Coaching Practice, managing an internal and external network of certified practitioners focused on accelerating performance of critical talent. New Hire Orientation and any new programs you create will also be within scope. In addition, you will also partner across the enterprise with other capability developing leaders in global sales, engineering, lean and Brand, to bring the entire development environment to life.
Along with the COE Leaders, Manager of Organization Development and the Talent Management Leader, you will play a role in the development and implementation of the overall talent development strategy for the corporation and supporting HR and COE strategies. You’ll have visibility into our enterprise strategy and will work closely with our HR and Business Executive leaders to ensure we have the capability required for success.
Core responsibilities include:
Team Leadership
• Work with TOD Director to set charter and strategic direction for Talent Development; ensure alignment with global HR and business leaders on capability areas and the engagement model for your team
• Identify, select, manage and develop the global team; manage priorities and resource requirements
• Ensure existing TD programs, processes and people continually delivers as-intended value
• Prepare and manage budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and provide for effective management of resources
• Source and manage a variety of external vendors or partnerships to support enterprise and business unit programs
Enterprise & Business Unit Learning Program Leadership
• Closely with Business Unit HR Business Partners and regional HR leaders to respond to their Talent Strategy demand, i.e., individual and cohort development needs; Perform intake across the enterprise and manage demand for scarce resources
• Design and deliver high impact learning interventions at both the enterprise and business unit level, considering the big details that astonish as well as the small details that matter (audiences include: leaders, managers, teams, individual contributors, and new hires)
• Work across stakeholder groups to ensure effective change management on all learning initiatives to gain ultimate adoption of intended changes
Learning Analytics & Technology Integration
• Work closely with Global Business Services Technology team to leverage learning management system in the employee development environment with relevance and accuracy
• Develop and track learning metrics to deliver insight to our business leaders, partnering closely with HRBPs on their talent dashboards
• Drive new approaches to digital learning, with a focus on employee access in real-time to best-in-class content when and where they need it
Thought Leadership & Content Development
• Stay abreast of discipline-related emerging trends and best practices (internally and externally); charter advanced development initiatives for TD resources resulting in new offerings, toolkits, publications or knowledge
• Identify additional opportunities for content development in service of emerging business needs
• Work with HR Leadership team to identify capability development areas for HRBPs and other CoEs; train or partner where needed
Customer & Stakeholder Management
• Continually assess business needs with Executive team and advocate for leverage of CoE capability
• Ensure alignment and effectiveness between COE and HR Stakeholders, (e.g., HRBPs, Global HR Leaders and COE members) and business partners
We’re looking for an inspiring people leader with the following capabilities and experience:
• Passionate learning leader with a pulse, vision and strategy for next generation corporate development approaches and technologies; recent experience in deploying new approaches (digital, bite-size) with quantifiable success
• Global business acumen and leadership; a strong understanding of global preferences and cultural nuances impacting learning interventions at the system, team and individual levels.
• Strong vendor selection and management capabilities; able to identify and curate powerful content and rock-star global capability to accelerate learning
• A bias for action, results-oriented, responsive to client needs and the pace of the business; not afraid to test and pilot
• Sets a high standard for excellence in learning delivery; ensures long-term results through careful consideration of the audience and effective change management strategies
• Life-long learner with a growth mindset, highly self-aware, confident, yet humble; you model what we hope to see in our employees and are always looking for ways you can develop and contribute
• Consulting, coaching and facilitation skills that leave people wanting to work with you again and again
• Excellent partnering capabilities: great listener, curious, supportive, highly collaborative
• Highly organized, program and project manager; able to balance the demands of leading a team with the pressure to deliver on your own work
• An advanced degree in learning and development, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational development, psychology, sociology, business administration, education, or related area.
• Certification in change management, executive coaching, and a variety of psychometric instruments strongly preferred
• 5-10 years of experience working with executive leadership, developing, launching and managing enterprise programs, and the full consulting cycles related to delivering on successful learning and development interventions.
